Progesterone suppositories - tell me your tricks and tips?

Hi, I've just had a BFP at 11dpo yesterday and after 3 losses I've now started on progesterone twice a day (cyclogest). I have used vaginally so far, but it's messy - as everyone seems to say!! I am wondering if it's completely the same effect if done rectally I.e. does it absorb in the same way for preventing miscarriage?

Also any other tips for using it would be much appreciated x

This thread just popped up on my most active and I wanted to comment. My youngest is now 7, so it's been a while since I have been on the TTC boards but I lost 4 pregnancies and carried 4 to term. The only difference between them was progesterone for me! I took the pessaries vaginally too, it was messy and I had horrific pregnancy symptoms BUT I consoled myself with the fact that something was working because when I didn't use it, I had mild or no symptoms, and the pregnancy didn't stick.

Anyway, I am now on holiday with four wonderful children (a dream that I struggled to ever believe would happen at times). Mumsnet kept me sane during the worrying moments.

Big hugs to you all and sending positive vibes xxxx

@ihatebojo aw thank you for the positive story! It's great to hear you have had 4 children after many losses! Great inspiration 💕

@Skylark1990 how are you feeling today?

Had my scan this morning and went well 😊I thought I was 9+2 and I’m measuring 9+3 so pretty spot on! Due 8th March. Quite a high heart rate but have had to stop myself googling what that means as the sonographer said it’s healthy.

I hadn’t joined any groups yet as I was a bit nervous to, but I think I might now! If there’s a due March/ April after miscarriage too that would be perfect for us both 😊

Hope you’re doing okay 💞💞

Hey @Cdoc congratulations on your scan! That's wonderful news 🥰🥰 yes I'd be keen to join a March/April after MC thread. We may have to make one. I'm on the Feb/March one as was on it for my last pregnancy, and went back when I got a positive this time so you could join that but we could also make a new one so we are all a bit closer in gestation ☺️

I'm actually a bit worried as been testing for line progression and doesn't seem to be much since Fri 😞 I did also do a clear blue Digi today and it came back 2-3 which is correct. But just a bit worried as the tests don't seem to be getting darker and yesterday actually seems slightly darker than today. I wish I hadn't tested!! I did another thread about it to get thoughts if you wanted to chime in....

@ihatebojo thank you so much for sharing your story ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Hi all can I just ask what dosage you're all on? I'm on 200mg twice a day but read on the NICE guidelines that they recommend 400mg twice a day? Just wondering why I've been subscribed 200mg ... x

chasingtherainbow1 · 11/08/2022 08:46

I was on 200mg twice a day from 3 dpo then upped to 400mg twice a day after a positive pregnancy test. Maybe speak to your GP/clinic who has provided them for you x
