Does anyone have any pram suggestions?

Leaning towards Icandy peach 7. If anyone has one and could share their thoughts on it that would be great.

First time mum and first of my friends to have babies, so any tips/advice welcome! Happy to invest, just would like it to be worth the cost.

Can I ask, for those who got a travel system - how much do you take your car seat out of the car and attach to the pram?
Regularly. Sometimes not worth getting them out the seats (popping into the supermarket for example). And it comes in handy when you get home if they’re asleep and you want to transfer to a cot. Can do it slowly and close to the cot (as opposed to trying to carry them from the car all the way).

BertieBotts always coming in with the awesome car seat knowledge… think it was on her advice that I got a newborn specific car seat. Can’t think how long DS was in it but it was quite a long time but it was about 15 months (the pebble plus which can be moved onto the uppababy with an adapter) and then I moved him into a Cosatto All in All rotate (which is one unit with the base) which should last him for years. Two car seats (plus one base) over the course of his life isn’t too bad IME. And of course the newborn seat + base has been useful second time round too.

I have a cybex priam that i used with my first and i highly recommend it. Now i'll use it with my second. Things i like are below.

1- I have the all terrain base and it is such a smooth ride. When i was pregnant with my first i went to pram shop with uppababy vista in mind but as soon as i tried priam i was hooked. Everything is made top quality . It is a german brand and it shows.
2- very attractive looking pram.
3- the pram part that you will use after 6 months lay flat and has a massive hood
4- comes with the cosoest and most beautiful footmuff i've ever seen
5- pram part is massive. My 4,5 year old still fits in it. It goes up to 23 kilos i think
6 - carrycot is massive too. It will genuinely take you to 6 months. I have friends that have uppababy vista and their babies outgrown the carrycot at 3 months.
7 - you can buy cybex cloud q car seat with it and cloud q can lie flat once you click it to pram base. You are not supposed to keep babies in car seat more than 2 hours but you don't have this restriction with cloud q when you are out of the car because it can lau flat. I used the car seat more than the carrycot to be honest. You don't want to move a sleeping baby from car seat to carrycot, they wake up so easy ! Also they get nosy after 3 months or so. they want to be a bit upright so they can see the world.
8- also the new cloud q car seat has 360 spin. I have the old one and i still love it even though it doesn't have the spin. It is beautiful as well.

Whichever you decide to buy i would see in the shop and try it first. You will know it once you find the one. All the best with your pregnancy x

Ok, so biggest piece of advise is think about where the pram will be stored - we have the egg, it's so nice to push and I'm pregnant with baby 3 and still planning on using it so it's lasted well .... However the seat unit and chassis fold seperatly and take up the whole car boot, and the pram has to be left standing in the house as there isn't anywhere to keep the 2 parts tidily. If I bought again I'd buy one that folds down in 1 piece like the mammas and papas occaru (spelling?) For example. I'd also look for a seat which sits really upright, our egg is still quite reclined even when In the most upright position and my girls used to hold the bar and sit right forward to see more.
Regarding car seat, you 100% want the newborn car seat, there are very few multi stage seats that you can actually put a newborn in despite them saying you can, and plus if it's cold out you can get baby sorted in the house and carry them out and click the seat in carefully with a blanket etc already on them, Vs carrying a newborn in just their clothes (no coats etc in the car) out to the car to buckle them into a seat that'll be cold cos it was in the car all night etc

I don’t think there is anything more exciting than that phase and then when it gets built up etc!

I had the mamas and papas occaro and it was fine. Not a majorly expensive one but we have ended up with a lot more prams! We now have a lightweight travel buggy which stays in the car so is used when I’m out anywhere unless I’m going somewhere properly to go a walk. I have an off road one for walking the dogs and running and still use the occaro now and again. I liked that it’s wheels weren’t the tiny little flimsy ones some prams have as this can be really annoying. You will also notice all of a sudden how uneven pavements are that you’d never noticed before!

the new silver cross dune looks stunning 😍 but I like the icandy too. As long as it folds easily, the carrycot isn’t tiny and you like the seat unit (as you will use it a lot longer than the carrycot) then I’d go for it

Also way more important than any pram to me was the cloud z car seat and the fact it can lie flat. I got sooo much use out of that feature and it was so handy to use as part of the pram when he was a newborn too to save having to wake him all the time. I’d 100% choose that again

Definitely have a look at Cybex, I had a Balios S and loved it

This is so helpful, thanks!! Some of these I hadn't even looked at. Definitely going to find somewhere that sticks the uppababy to try it.

Can I ask, for those who got a travel system - how much do you take your car seat out of the car and attach to the pram? Or even just take it out of the car to bring in the house etc. I'd like a 360 base, but some of the seats look very bulky that I'm not sure you can actually remove them? I'm sure you must be able to though as I know there are a few that iCandy state is compatible with the peach, including a 360 one, but it looks very small.

Wondering the benefits of going for a travel system and therefore a car seat designed purely for a baby, compared to investing in a car seat that grows with your child, so will last longer. Some seem to say they can do from birth - 12 years!!! Although I'm sure in reality that depends on the size of the child.

I'm probably overthinking this all, but just keen to make wise purchases!

We used the car seat adapters on the pram a lot more than I expected to actually, they are really handy if your just nipping into the shops etc so I'd personally recommend an infant carrier.
Also be aware that a lot of the seats that state "birth to 12" or "birth to 4" etc aren't actually that great for newborns as they don't have a great recline on them so baby isn't positioned that well in them until around 9 months or so.

Derbee · 26/07/2022 14:55

We use our travel system pretty much every day. It’s so handy being able to easily transition from the car to the shops/park etc without having to wake the baby up.

The Cybex Cloud Z seat is able to go into a lie flat position, so the baby is perfectly safe to stay in it for longer than normal car seats (in shops, or into the house for a nap etc). You can also get the rotating base, so you put your baby or seat straight in, rather than having to twist at an awkward angle.

I don’t know why anyone would buy any other car seat than the Cybex Cloud Z

CurbsideProphet · 26/07/2022 15:48

We're getting the Oyster Zero as it's all terrain but more lightweight, easier to fold, and fits in the car boot. I'm only 5ft so some prams were like tanks and so difficult for me to manoeuvre. We live in a village so I don't go round town / shops that often. And no public transport.

The shop we went to was great - Winstanleys Pramworld. There's nowhere near us to look at prams - no Mamas and Papas, no John Lewis etc. You don't know what pram works for you until you've had a proper look.

I had the ICandy orange and would highly recommend it!! The basket is huge, it has a built in buggy board and you can buy clips and an extra seat to make it a double. I’ve used it as; single, double with toddler & newborn, double with 2 toddlers and single with toddler on buggy board. Very robust; still going strong nearly 5 years on and folds down and goes up with one hand. You can get lots of different colours and matching accessories if you them, too.
