stupid thing to worry about i know. i am now 26 weeks pregnant and just look like i;ve put on a few pounds tbh. I am a big lady anyway, but even with dd1+2 when i was a size 16-18 (am now 22) i didnt look pregnant till the 8th month.

Saw a lady at the nursery today who is due 3 weeks after me and she is to put in frankly, massive. she looks very pregnant.

Why do i not show when i;m pregnant? I get a lot of rib pain early on in pregnancy, is it possible the baby is growing more upwards than outwards? dd1 was 6lb 15oz and dd2 was 9lb at birth, but even with dd2 i didnt look pregnant till the last few weeks. why??

how can i get people to give up their seats for me in january when i have to go into london on the tube if i dont have a bump to speak of?

People don't give up their seats for you even with visible bumps! Maybe if you were actually in labour...

misdee · 25/11/2004 21:50

no chance. they didnt for mieow.

not lookign forward to the trip anyway, as have to go to guys hospital for scan, but surely if i have a bump people might let me have a seat.

Hi, i found out i'm 5 months pregnant and not 4 as i thought, but i don't look pregnant either, i'm normally a size 8-10 but i have a small bump, had my scan monday and was told everything normal, but i'm so small, any ideas?

jane313 · 25/11/2004 21:53

you have to sigh a lot and rub your stomach and hold your back like Leonard Rossiter in rising Damp. Once a woman made me ask a man to give me a seat and embarrasedly I did and it worked.

misdee · 25/11/2004 21:54

gem, when u due? i'm due 4th march-ish.

misdee with dd1 I never really looked pregnant - just fatter..... I think I was carrying her across my tummy rather than in the feotal position... in fact a woman in her haste to get onto a water taxi in amsterdam shoved me out of the way and if it had not been for dh I would have ended up in the water - was almost 8 months pregnant at the time and just did not look it.

this time with dd2 - I looked huge from early on - dd2 was also 3 lbs 7oz bigger than dd1... but I was definitely carrying her in the foetal position...

Agree that people do not even give up seats when one is visibly pregnant...

hoxtonchick · 26/11/2004 08:01

i really enjoy asking people to give up their seats. they are so embarrased .

misdee · 26/11/2004 08:20

my ds was 6lb3 and I only lloked pregnant for teh last few months. I enjoyed telling people who asked how many months i had to go that it was in fact only 3 weeks.......

Bronze · 26/11/2004 09:47

People still dont realise Im pregnant and I was due yesterday. I was only a 12 to start with so you think it would be noticeable but people seem to wear blinkers. I was the same with ds1 and he was 9lb 14

Funny isn't it...I was exactly the other way...I loved the fact no one knew I was pregnant, that I could teach a class and they had no idea! (apart from needing the loo regularly...)

Poppy66 · 26/11/2004 14:16

I,m 29 weeks with first and have massive unmistakeable bump. Every night I get on the same overcrowded bus and have never ONCE been offered a seat, even when laden down with shopping! Can't believe people can be so mean, friend thinks its because I live in London. Need to take some tips from you Hoxtonchick!

Gem1355 · 26/11/2004 20:26

HI i'm due 4th april and got a tiny bump, i don't lokk 5 months, i'd like to look pregnant!

misdee · 26/11/2004 20:27

me too. i feel like a fraud when i go to appointments.

last scan appt was double booked. the other lady waiting snottly turned round and said 'my appointment was made 8 weeks ago'. errrrrrr so was mine. she had a bump, i didnt, still dont.

I thought it was really cool that I started to show so soon (8 weeks, I'm not kidding). I didn't stop to think what that would mean at 40 weeks . You may be better off than you think!

Gem1355 · 26/11/2004 20:41

I'm feeling loads of movement today, but i'd love to see it through my bump, it was a shock tho finding out i was 21 weeks and not 17 weeks.
misdee when r u due?

misdee · 26/11/2004 20:53

27th feb-4th march. always confused over my dates at the hospital lol.

i can feel loads of movements but cant see any really.

got loads of rib pain already.

OP posts:
Gem1355 · 26/11/2004 21:25

had a foot stuck in my ribs on mondy for my scan!
time is going to fly and i don't have any thing?
i'm going to be a single parent so the expense for things worrys me, but i'll be fine,
talk about dates the sonographer worried me when sh said my baby was big for what i thought was 17 weeks!!!, so hopefully baby arrives 4th april!!!

misdee · 27/11/2004 12:53

will you be entitled to maternity grant at all?

and when doing the weekly shopping pick up odd bits and pieces for the baby. i have a cupbaord full of wipes, nappies, breastpads, maternity pads etc etc.

ebay is good for bargains, and scout car boot sames for cot etc, as long as you get a new matress it will be fine.

beansontoast · 27/11/2004 14:39

i can still remember how much i wanted a bump...however my bum was bigger than my tum from the word go and stayed that way.needless to say that was not funny.
are you tall? a long trunk/abdomen means that a baby will have more room..thats what my sympathisers told me.
as for your london trip ,i recommend dressing the part[ie no huge coat swamping you or undo it so people can see] and high drama.if that fails then ask out right,i found teenager boys to be surprisingly gallant. depending on what time you travel, you might just get a seat anyway.

misdee · 27/11/2004 15:02

not tall at all (5ft 3 on a good day lol), but am a larger lady.

i have to be at guys hospital for 12, judging by the last trip up there with delays etc, i am gonna be leaving at 9.30am will be in kings x between 10-10.30 so hopefully wont be as packed then.

Gem1355 · 27/11/2004 16:31

HI how r u today misdee?
i'm not sure about grant's or anything yet,
my parents have said they will buy my pram etc
but i'll get the rest.

misdee · 27/11/2004 16:33

i'm ok. just taking things easy. dd1 is at the cinema with her dad and uncles, dd2 is watching big cook little cook and she has been helping me paint.

what a shock to find a 4 week difference in fdates tho. wow.
