I have been using anusol as prescribed but it's doing next to nothing. I am worried about the pile getting bigger. The midwife said she wants it to go before birth as doesn't want it to be so painful full but the pain has subsided but the pile is still hanging out and I can't pushcit back in. what happens if I can't get it to go

Maybe go to a doctor straight away. II had them a lot during pregnancy but got them sorted just before. Best of luck

If they're still there for labour then they'll probably get bigger or you'll get more of them due to the pushing.

Or they might get bigger before that due to pelvic floor pressure in later pregnancy. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I am in the exact same position as you!
I've still got six weeks to go so hoping that's enough time for it to get better and not worse!

Can you try some diet related softeners? I ate a lot of prunes - a couple with each meal - which helped. Coupled with cream, could be worth a try?

To reassure you I have had exactly the same with 2 pregnancies - very big piles that have got bigger from one labour to the next with all the pushing!

I’ve never been able to get rid of them before labour and yes they have become bigger but actually no more painful.

They still have a tendency to fall out if I’ve done a number 2 2 months after birth (sorry for over sharing - I’m still in the process of doing my exercises to fix this!) but now it is getting better with no major issue and no major pain despite being slightly unpleasant / feeling unusual at times.

Don’t worry and good luck for the birth!

Awful. What does yours look like cos mine is purple in colour and the Dr says this is normal.

Thank you. I am just worried about it being thrombosed as its purple in colour. Was yours like this? Dr says it's normal and even if thrombosed can still go away on its own, although unlikely. The pain has lessened so I am hoping I can manage.

@anxiousmumtobeeee I've been prescribed a gel as anusol doesn't seem to do anything. Is your GP able to offer something else to try?
