Any midwife’s on here? Ultrasound pic

I know this is a long shot but I am worrying myself now. I had a vaginal ultrasound yesterday as I am worried about an ectopic, no particular reason as to why it’s just something I like to rule out in pregnancies early on and this is my scan pic. Does this mean the gest sac is in the right place? As when I saw a report of the early ultrasound (I’m 4-5 weeks) it says no masses or cysts seen, some free fluid in pelvis? And when I googled free fluid it said ectopic can sometimes cause it! I only had my first son exactly one year ago and his early dating scan never said no free fluid so I am petrified now I have something dangerous going on. If there is a midwife or someone knowledgeable on this I would be so grateful. 😊

OP if they had seen the sac anywhere other than in the uterus they would definitely have said something!

CrystalFlower · 14/07/2022 05:47

@Regenbogen22 when I said does that mean I haven’t got an ectopic she said can’t rule that out at this early stage lol

That's unfortunately the downside of having scans so early....it's hard to see anything. They can't really confirm or deny anything or predict how things will go 😕

CrystalFlower · 14/07/2022 05:52

*added info; I said to her seen as a gest sac is seen in the uterus that must mean not ectopic right and when she said sorry it’s too early to say it’s made me think I’m wrong as I’m no midwife that’s why I’m asking on here 😊 when a healthcare professional said not sure at this stage you question your own common sense

1- A certain amount of free fluid is normal. Everyone has fluid over the organs to allow them to move freely over each other. It’s known as physiological free fluid. In a non pregnant person the fluid increases and decreases depending on the stage of the cycle. If you had a copious amount of fluid (which is sometimes (not always) linked to an ectopic, you would also have some pelvic pain). I’m assuming you had a private scan judging by the image. An NHS sonographer may not of even reported normal free fluid. Private companies do over report as this gets them return paying customers to reassess them!

2- it is extremely extremely rare to have both an intrauterine sac and an ectopic pregnancy. The sonographer will have assessed your ovaries and adnexum for any mass which should not be there. And they stated this in their report that none were present/
3- you can see the brighter decidual reaction happening around the sac, which is a positive sign of it being a gestation sac.

4- please don’t Google. Your putting un-necessary stress / worries on yourself. Sonographers are highly skilled and when scanning real time they will be able to assess and give much more information than un-qualified Google web pages who didn’t observe the actual scan.

Only women can get pregnant.

Only women can get pregnant.

And women are people. Saying “non-pregnant person” doesn’t exclude or discriminate against women in any way, so why derail the thread?

CrystalFlower · 14/07/2022 15:57

@concernedguineapig i was told to have another ultrasound today and they are suspicious of the amount of fluid over my right ovary and even said there is a small chance of a heterotopic pregnancy which is extremely rare especially in those who are not under going fertility treatments which I’m not so I’m afraid my “extreme anxiety” was correct at this stage. Thanks anyway for that comment 🙄

@ChagSameachDoreen i have absolutely no idea what that comment was about. Random thread posting I assume? 🙄

I freaked when I found out I was pregnant and I was getting pain on my right side. So they did very early scan saying there was a sac and it's in right place. I was told after I did have a cyst which burst and this why I had pain but nothing to worry about.
I had scan at 6weeks and saw the heartbeat.
Everything will be okay.

Scorpio8 · 14/07/2022 17:19

@CrystalFlower

I forgot to say they said I had fluid but didn't say anything last scan or seemed to be concerned at EPU.

CrystalFlower · 14/07/2022 17:20

Thank you @Scorpio8 😊 It’s going to be a very anxious week to find out if it is that heterotopic pregnancy as I have one in my uterus currently 5 weeks with yolk sac but they just need to rule out one in my right ovary due to the free fluid seen in that area… glad your pregnancy is going well and your little angel has a good heartbeat, all the best for you 😊
