Hi, I’m pregnant with my 4th baby at age 34, it’s very unexpected, I have teenagers and all thought my baby days were long gone. So honestly, I’ve just completely put it out of my mind and tried to ignore it. 😞

When should I see a midwife for blood etc? My kids are all of school next week so am I ok to wait until Sept when they’re all back to school? I’m currently 6 weeks. Sorry can’t remember anything at all!

Thank you!

I would just phone your GP and ask them, I phoned mi e then had to wait 5 weeks for an appointment. First appointment they didn't take blood or urine samples, just lots of questions about my health. Have to provide samples at my next appointment next month.
I would say get in touch way before September because that's when you'd get your 12 week scan

I think a lot of the blood tests need to be done by 10/11 weeks

Ok thank you. I’ll ring them this week then, I didn’t know if it would be too early. Not sure what I’ll tell the kids 🫣

You usually self refer to midwife when you are around 8 weeks. Google your local midwifery service or hospital and there should be an online form.

First appointment is 6-8 weeks here because they are so busy.
I'm also starting allover again at 37 with a 17yo!

I waited too. Had my scan at 13+6 and booking appt the week after. Got told off for waiting!

You need to contact them asap.
I had my first midwife appt at 10 weeks where she took bloods and urine sample.

How you feeling about it hun? I’m honestly blown away by it. I haven’t even let myself think about it. It seems like so long ago. Although I did walk down the baby isle in Aldi earlier, and saw nappies for like £1!!!! When I had my 14 year old, I brought £12 a pop purple pampers! Things seems easier now to have babies than they did then. But the thought of having a newborn again, and the tiredness terrifies me 🫣

How you feeling about it? Feels mad to be going back to nappies and bottles! I honestly thought I’d spend my 40s with Grandkids 🤣🤣

I've been with DH 3 years and he always wanted a kid of his own so it wasn't unexpected, we were ttc for a while. Im 27 weeks tomorrow and still having wobbles about starting all over again. It doesn't feel real yet even though we've got a house full of baby stuff.
It's much tougher at this age, I feel every bloody ache and pain this time round.
