Hey everyone,

this pregnancy was unplanned and I’m starting to think about the nursery (hoping it will help me get a bit more excited).

the bedroom we have is absolutely tiny with a built in wardrobe over the lump from the stairs. Long term plan was to take that out and get a bed with storage built over the top. However we are just going to have to make do for now.

room dimensions are 2m by 2.5m with door and wardrobe on the smaller wall side by side and window and radiator opposite.

please share any photos or links to nursery decor and space saving ideas :)

This sounds like ours, ours is 2.65 x 2.25 - I've attached a screenshot of our floor plan off zoopla. I don't have any current pictures as we don't have the cot up yet for DS but when DD was a baby we changed the door on the cupboard to a bifold then put the cot in the bottom right corner. The wardrobe and changing table were then put on the left facing the cot. Only difference we will do this time is fit a 4 x 1 kallax unit along the same wall. There will be wall space if we need some shelves up.

@mummyh2016 ours is almost exactly the same! Our door is in the corner however so we have less space on the wall where you’ve put the kallax.

I have thought about a bifold. I didn’t think about the cot going there it could make more space.

I’m so lost this time around.

I've heard good things about changing platforms that fit on top of the crib. That way it's a changing table and a crib.

For long term I really like high sleepers (when child is six or so, unless you need to fit another one in the room). I usually sleep in one as I chose the smallest bedroom for myself. I've got a full wardrobe and a desk under mine.

Other space saving ideas I've used in my own little room. A laundry basket the hangs on inside of the door. Shelves with drawers that fix onto the wall so take up no floor space. There's also a bin I've got my eye on that fixes onto a wall (or might fix it onto side of bed).

@ToCaden thank you. We’ve got the changing table on DD’s cot which everyone at the time told me we wouldn’t use. I love it.

I haven’t heard/seen shelves with drawers before. We’ve got space where I thought we could put storage until DH reminded me I’d be blocking the light switch so this may be a good alternative.
