I have received a text message for appointment for Jobcentre next week.

I do work part time but they always call me in now when my hours go low unless they made a mistake. I been signed off two weeks had not felt well with side pain since finding out was panicking felt stressed but everything okay. I am 6 weeks now.

My manager does know about my pregnancy but think one he just sticking probably to my contract hours which is 4hrs.
I also have Fibromyalgia and in a lot of pain anyway. I don't mind doing extra hours was going to speak to my manager.
I don't want to feel forced to do more hours either as when I have when I wasn't pregnant it took a toll on my health and had to keep signing off.

I don't want to tell the Jobcentre just yet about the pregnancy.

What do I do?

What do they expect pregnant mums to do while pregnant?

Would they suggest to still apply for PIP?
Although I need to do this still.

I would just be honest with the job centre and put them in the picture - what harm is they going to do? If you have a very part time wage you might be entitled to a sure start grant or something to help you

The system will automatically flag up when you don't do as many hours and that will generate the appointment

I'm not getting why you don't want to be honest with them really? Just tell them your feeling rough so atm your just doing your contracted hours

What's the issue with that?

It's still early days so don't really want to tell them about the pregnancy.

I suppose if I have to I will. But starting to get fed up with the Jobcentre because it's not like I am not working.

With my condition I could just get signed off but don't want to do that right now. I really shouldn't have to disclose an early pregnancy until a certain amount of weeks.

Your pregnancy is a red herring, I think. You say that you have fibromyalgia and struggle to work more than 4h/w, did I understand that correctly? If that's the case then you need to talk to your work coach about doing a work capability assessment. In the meantime you'll just need to keep getting fit notes from your GP to say that you can't work any more than you are doing already.

PIP is separate and can be claimed whether you work or not, as long as you meet the eligibility criteria. So if you do you should start the claim ASAP.

I was made redundant in early pregnancy and the job Centre still expected me to get a job. I managed to get a temping job to tide me over until my actual new job started.

I have been signed off 2 weeks already and now just need to go back. Even though worried about Fibromyalgia aswell as the pregnancy.
Just I don't want the Jobcentre giving me headache.
I already was going to look for a different job later on because I wanted a job less stressful standing on my feet.
Now I already know I will have to stick this job out until Maternity leave.
I was meant to have the occupational health come out but haven't heard anything. I do get breaks now.
Like I said I want to see how my work goes but if my manager chooses to give me 2 days a week then really don't want the stupid Jobcentre giving me headache. I was really annoyed before finding out I was pregnant.
I could understand if I didn't have a job but really hope they cancel.
I do get quite a lot of fit notes when I am bad with the Fibromyalgia. This one that I got was because of stress but my manager knows the reason why. Just think doctor wanted me to tell my work. I honestly feel like saying something from last time. They know about my health too as I have told them..
Thanks for advice

I dont think you have much choice here as I see it. The job centre will keep asking you to do more hours if you dont tell them you are preganant and too ill to work more. If you are unabe to work I cant see the alternative but to get signed off sick. But will you even get a decent amount of sick pay?

RosalindFranklinsphoto · 08/07/2022 21:17

Your GP can specify how much or how little work you can do on the fit note, additionally if you can't work you should be getting SSP to top up your UC really hope you get sorted op I hate to think this is stressing you out so much. You could also look at the Maternity Action website as it has a lot of useful info and you can ring them to get support x

Updated

I went today for my appointment but didn't tell my work coach about my pregnancy. He was really nice said your working so you just need to change a few things on your commitments.
I have still got to go back and will tell them soon.
But not much they can do I suppose especially if I still going to work until Maternity leave.
He accepted my that condition prevents me working more hours. So don't feel as worried no more.
