Baby is too quiet - 20 weeks

So I recently had my 20 week scan and according to the sonograher "no they're not normally this quiet". Now I'm worrying. Despite every attempt to get the baby to move she would not, bouncing, caffeine, sugar, a walk, jumping, not one thing seemed to get her to move. Obviously it's not normal, so has anyone else had this, and the baby be born fine? Should I worry or not?

Mine was like this at my scan too, and I also didn't feel any movement at all until 23+4 (first baby) so was very worried!
Currently 30 weeks and wide awake as babe is having a rave in my belly 😂 Obviously can't answer about baby being born fine as we're not there just yet but some babies are less wriggly than others and as time goes on you'll figure out what's normal for them. As hard as it is try not to worry until someone (medical professionals) give you a real reason to!

My first was so still. I didn't think much of it until this time around when I'm pregnant again and the baby is moving loads and it's actually hard for the sonographer to get the images!

Dd was absolutely fine. Unless they've said it's for a reason to be concerned about then try not to worry - easier said than done!

My first was on the later side of normal when he started moving. Apparently my placenta was anterior which sometimes prevents you from feeling kicks... he's a big strapping 17 year old now, so no issues obviously!!

My second decided to bury his head towards one of my hips, curl into a ball and refuse to move at both 20 week scans. Never had any problems with movement otherwise. He was just a little sod at scans (12 week - too active, 36 week - breech). He's now a healthy (other than the repeated coughs his big sister keeps bringing home from nursery) 4 month old.

My sister's first baby was a lazy lump who barely stirred all pregnancy. He's now an incredibly active 4 year old. But that minimal movement in pregnancy was normal for him.

These answers are very reassuring, thank you. 🙂So far everything else appears normal, maybe she's just a really relaxed foetus and this is just how it's going to be. But it's good to hear other people have had the same experience, and for those with children all seems to be just fine.

I think it was a thoughtless comment from your sonographer. Unless something was raised at the scan (it’s called the anomaly scan after all) then there’s nothing to worry about.

I was sent for a walk around at my 20 week scan. Told to jump and jiggle. Eat chocolate etc etc.

Had a perfectly healthy baby, who is a chilled little thing now at 12 weeks. I think medical staff should be more careful with their language, as random comments they make can cause us a lot of worry.

My bubs was a little like this at my 20 week scan and I've had extra growth scans throughout (I'm now 37+4) and I too was sent away for a cold sugary drink and did some lunges around the hospital to make her move!

At some scans, she has been quiet and she even has her days where's she's quiet
She's definitely more quiet than my first who was the most active baby!!

Now she's this size I feel her a lot more but she is much more quiet than my first and I think that's just her pattern ?

It does still worry me - I hardly feel her in the night and I look forward to getting up, having breakfast just so I can feel her move !! My first kept me awake

Do you know where your placenta is ?
Mine is anterior and I'm sure that has a lot to do with it
They say not so much as they get bigger but for me I felt movements very late on, they were much more reduced and I didn't have anterior placenta with my first x

@strawberrysummer19 the placenta is at the back, so posterior I think? I did actually feel her early on, she's had some really busy days, but more recently it's been quite more quiet. I have to hold onto the fact that nothing has come up in the scan but it's always going to worry me a bit, just in case. The sonographer did appear to do quite a bit of focus on blood flow in different areas in the placenta, so I'm not sure if it's standard at the anomaly scan and it did make me wonder "is there a problem?"
