Anterior placenta

Hi all, 20 weeks and just found out I have an anterior placenta. Realise why now I'm barely feeling movement. Opposite of my dd who I get so much from early on.

Does anyone have any info on anterior placenta? Anything I should know? Thanks !

Nothing you should know apart from the reduced feelings of movements! It's just where the placenta is!

Will the movements be reduced for the full pregnancy? Or as the baby gets bigger I should feel more? Thanks so much for replying.

@louloulas11 I have an interior placenta and now I'm just about 25 weeks I feel him much more, especially as he can be a very wriggly baby. My Consultant said by 28 weeks the anterior placenta won't make a difference to what I can feel.

*anterior placenta.
Spell check thinking it knows better than me there!

@CurbsideProphet one would hope it's also an interior placenta! 😂

I have an anterior placenta too, I'm 24 weeks now and feel quite a lot of movement, especially in the last 2 weeks, this is my first so I don't have anything to compare with. I was also told that baby will be bigger than placenta by 28 weeks so shouldn't affect it after then

I had one too. I was told the placenta can move and as I got bigger I felt the baby much more.

I have AP and the movements have been less than my first who was very active

This baby has been quiet some days - so it's been a worry for me at times
Sure it's down to having ap x

I have one, I’ll be 27 weeks tomorrow. I’ve felt baby move for some time now but I’d say only strong kicks have been within the last 2 weeks. DP still hasn’t felt baby move and think that’s to do with the AP. Some days I think when I was about 20 weeks i’d have quiet days with little movement that would stress me out a little but I guess baby was behind the AP

I have one as well and my last one was also anterior. Am 19 weeks today and haven't felt any movements yet.

I have anterior placenta and I felt nothing until about 23 weeks but from 25 weeks I started feeling regular movements. My friend had one and felt very little throughout her entire pregnancy, her baby was born absolutely fine.

I have an anterior placenta, it definitely impacts how much and how early you feel the baby move. I felt nothing until 22 weeks and then it was very 'cushioned' for weeks. Began to feel really big kicks around 26 - 27 weeks and now at 32 I feel the baby move all the time.

Have had one instance of going in to be monitored when I hadn't felt any movement for a day but the baby was just really low down and well cushioned.

Most annoying part of it was people (mostly older relatives and colleagues) making me feel like I was somehow doing a shit job of being pregnant when they'd constantly ask loads of questions about baby movement and i'd answer honestly that I couldn't feel much yet and would get disappointed 'oh. Well, with mine I couldn't' sleep from 15 weeks due to baby gymnastics!!' or 'Are you sure that's right? I've never heard of that' etc. Not sure what they were trying to achieve but I have gotten good at shutting any of that down quite effectively now.

My midwife said that from 28 weeks onwards it shouldn't really be an issue as far as feeling the movements go as the baby is much bigger, so should be able to feel just as much. Personally for me, the anterior placenta has been no different to the movements I had with my DD and a posterior placenta, you may feel them round the sides more though and at the bottom initially

respark321 · 05/07/2022 13:04

I had anterior placenta and wasn't feeling regular movement until 28 weeks!

Homegettinginvaded · 05/07/2022 13:09

I had anterior placenta and went for days even at 35-36 weeks feeling no movement. I found it really stressful and went for regular monitoring. I was induced at 38 weeks because of the lack of movement despite monitoring looking ok . Baby was absolutely fine .
