What should I be asking?

Hi, I have my 12 weeks NHS scan on Thurs. According to my early private scans I’ll be 13 weeks (I had scans at 8 weeks and 10 weeks, first for reassurance and second so we could bring our 2 DDs aged 9 and 12).
I have opted for the combined test so know they’ll measure NTT and take blood.
I’m 38, BMI was 32 at booking appt and I’ve had high blood pressure following both of my previous c sections which resulted in longer stays in hospital (but no BP issues in the pregnancies or generally).

I know due to age I’m higher risk for Downs and other chromosonal disorders so expecting my risk factor when it comes back to be affected by my age. Will they tell me my NTT measurement at the scan or only if I ask? Is there anything else they will measure at the scan that I should ask about? Wanting to be armed with as much info as possible from the scan for when the bloods come back and they combine everything into my risk score so I am aware how much of it is my age/weight etc and how much of it is down to the scan measurements/blood levels.

Is there anything you wished you’d asked at the time?

The letter for the appt also says I will see my consultant/clinic team after the scan which I assumed is because I’m high risk due to age/weight and 2x previous c sections and to discuss birth plan this time but does it say that on everyone’s and its just referring to the blood test?

Thanks

Hi I’m high risk due to previous csections and recently had my 12 week scan, they will tell you your NT measurement at the scan or after, I didn’t need to ask but ask if they don’t tell u and they will. They will also give your your due date based on CRL at this scan which is most accurate. They won’t care what your private scans dated you as they will still go with this one for due date. At mine she said she saw nothing concerning and everything looked normal for this gestation. I then had to book for my 20 week scan. I then had an appointment with midwife’s for bloods straight after which will give you a combined risk based on all your information, bloods and nt measurement however this takes about a week to get the result of. 1 in 150 is considered high risk for syndromes and then they would ring you and offer you further tests. They did tell me if I haven’t heard anything after a week assume I’m low risk as they ring all the high risk first. I got my result which was low within 4/5days anyway but all hospitals are different. I also saw my consultant at this appointment but most st my hospital don’t it’s just they’re keeping a closer eye on me due to previous pregnancy/ birth issues and potential for complications this time. Hope it goes well! X

Anyone else have anything they think it would be useful to ask about the scan results? Thanks

Where I am we get a full printed report with all the individual measurements, plotted graphs, risk values, percentiles etc.

I would ask for this or a copy of the report, then you have all the info for yourself.

Thanks, I’ll ask about this
