Hi does anyone suffer from this?

Since being pregnant (am 23 weeks) this has gotten really bad for me and the only thing they really calms it enough for be to sleep is a hot bath before bed but I think it's getting worse and I am getting it in my arms too.

Amy advice on this?

Thanks xx

Magnesium is supposed to be good for this. You can get it in a spray or bath salts, among others.

I sympathise. I remember how horrible that was. Hope it eases soon 💐

Drink tonic water before bed! The quinine helps, definitely worked for me.

Yes, tonic water. I take cocodamol when it’s really bad but I wouldn’t think that’s an option when you’re pregnant.

I suffer with this too, in my last pregnancy I bought one of them cooling pillows from Amazon and just rested it on top of each leg for 5/10 mins at a time and it relived the urge to kick or jerk my legs enough to fall asleep at night!

I know there's nothing worse than RLS in this heat! Hope you find some relief!

Get your iron level checked. I only get restless leg syndrome during pregnancy when my iron drops.

I suffered terribly with this during my pregnancy, I found it difficult to explain what it felt like, but it was driving me insane. My GP thank god knew and suggested ice cubes to suck on when it happens, and a walk around every time it happens. It did actually work tbf x

And this yes!

It’s how I know I need my next iron infusion, so definitely get iron looked at.

KangarooKenny · 26/06/2022 06:21

I agree with checking your iron. I got this with low ferritin.
Tingling in the arms could be Carpal Tunnel syndrome.
Tonic water.
Keep your legs out from under the duvet, keeping them cold seems to help.
Sit with your feet up as often as possible during the day/evening.

Magnesium salts in the bath, magnesium supplement. Works like magic

FeedMeSantiago · 26/06/2022 07:42

I've had restless legs since I was a child, never been a link to iron levels for me but definitely get that checked as it's a common trigger.

You can get restless legs in your arms, I certainly have. I find a heated wheat bag helpful for both legs and arms although that may not appeal at the moment.

I also find massage helps. I have one of those heated back massage things and rest my legs on it before bed when I'm suffering.

Gentle stretches and walking during the day can also help.

I got this really bad in pregnancy especially at night time. It’s terrible isn’t it. I agree get ur iron checked, I don’t know if mine was due to that but I was anaemic too x

CoolBananas21 · 26/06/2022 09:31

Thanks everyone!

Will 100% get iron levels checked, as well as try some magnesium spray and salts.

I had to have a bath at 2am last night just to be able to get to sleep!

Xxx

Venegel- horsh chestnut gel by A Vogal is the only thing that's helped mine so far. And it is pregnancy safe according to their website.
You can't regularly have tonic water whilst pregnant so be careful.
