42 weeks, back to back and sent home as unit too busy

My sister has just been sent home as the unit is too busy to admit her. As title says baby is 42 weeks, back to back and she has been sent home with codine.
She and I are both really worried and she is in a lot of pain. Is this a concerning situation and what can she do?

Oh and she had an induction booked which they have cancelled. I am worried sick!

Well they surely needed to send her to an alternative hospital!

I'd be asking about another hospital
Sorry sounds very stressful x

I would tell her it her partner or you if you are with to ring. Ask to speak to the PMA midwife and ask them about the risks of baby being left past 42 weeks and what are they suggesting they should do. She/you could also ring PALS. Or fo to another maternity hospital.

She has the right to an induction, whether that is at the hospital she booked at, or if they refer her to an alternative unit. If they are too busy, they are too busy and it wouldn’t be safe for them to start her induction but they do need to offer alternatives. The good news is that the risks to her baby at 42 weeks are still very minimal and tbh a back to back induction would probably be horrible and unlikely to work so this does give baby time to turn. Get her to have a look at Spinning Babies and The Miles Circuit for help with moving baby. In the mean time, someone needs to keep phoning the hospital and escalating to delivery suit coordinators/matrons/the head of midwifery/the chief executive (in that order) until they get a satisfactory solution.

Thank you so much everyone for suggestions so far. @WorkEvent the escalation points are very useful!

Get on to PALs at the hospital.

Wtf is she supposed to do? Cross her legs and hold it in? Crazy. Fine the hospital is busy, but alternative arrangements should be made for her.

Any update op? X

Yes the induction team have called and are trying to find her an alternative hospital and we are both a lot less stressed. She is however knackered as not slept for two nights

@wasiwrongtoask oh bless, I hope they've managed to locate her somewhere

That's the thing about induction
My friend has just been induced and she said the worst but was the 2days before where she was so tired, when things got happening she could cope with that

X

I hope she is okay. I hate to scare people but finding an alternative hospital isn't always do-able. Lately we've been full to the rafters and every other hospital in this part of the country has turned us down, as they too are full. So the hospital may have been already trying everything they could.

Baby arrived and sister recovering now after a C section. Thank you everyone
