I'm sure I read somewhere that babies tend to face their placenta- is this true??

Because if it is, another prosterior baby seems likely for me . At scan yesterday it was confirmed that the placenta was exactly where I thought it was - basically at the front of my tummy. I didn't think to ask at the time, but I am sure I have heard that babies tend to face their placentas in the womb. I know its a strange question, but does anyone know? Will this also make it more difficult to assess his position later on, as the placenta will be in the way? Noone told me dd was prosterior until she came out face up, and I would like a bit of warning this time!

The placenta was anterior with DD and she came out the right way up as it were. She was posterior at 35 weeks and I spent 24 hours turning her using optimal foetal positions and not slouching and basically sat bolt upright or forwards for the rest of the pregnancy!

my placenta was ... erm... at the back (tries to think of correct term) and baby was back to back. so no.

don;t be sad !! there is a lot you can do to prepare your baby for birth, trying to get him/ her into a better position, and lots of ways to cope with an OP labour....

google optimal foetal positioning, and have a look at www.spinningbabies.com and the best tip for a posterior ( in fact any labour !!! ) is stay active, mobile and upright, and DO NOT LIE ON YOUR BACK !
