Some reassurance would help as it is too late to turn back now! Ds will be 4.5, and dd 3 (just or just about) when dc3 is born.
My initial thoughts are that anything has to be better than a 19 month age gap But am worried about going back to all the baby stuff, sleepless nights again.

Not going to have, have got.

I've got dd's 1&2 (twins)4.2 and dd3 0.2.

It's mad but loving in our house. I was worried about sleeplessnights/enough love to go round/jealousy/sibling rivalry/regressive behaviour... ...to name a few.

Night times aren't mad anymore (they were for about the first two weeks). It's amazing how quickly the famiy readjusts to accomodate a new member.

I really found that the thought of things were worse than the reality. e.g. I cried ob dp's first day back at work saying 'please don't leave me alone all day with 3 children (! I'm blaming it on hormones, stop laughing at me). The day that followed was absolutely fine. dh had made my lunch and a big flask of tea for me in case it was a nightmare but hasn't bothered since as it's not necessary.

Don't worry, think what you can do to make you days run more smoothly (before you get sleep deprived and can't think) to help put your mind at rest but ultimately you'll just need to suck it and see.

I've got 5 (lol not all under 5!!)

13 yrs,
10yrs
4 + 6
2 + 9
8 mths

?Yeah tis certainly noisier in my house than some, but hey, we all rub along nicely most of the time. So what if my baby has a wardrobe full of gorgeous clothes that she never wears, cos she's always in a baby gro, they look sooo cute don't they?

Mine are all in bed and asleep by half 9pm, and we lay in bed til 7 at the weekends, most of the lo's join us.
Only problem is our people carrier just died and can't afford new one till end March. Dh bought me a fiesta, (i kid you not)to see me through, haven't quite worked out how to strap my teenager onto the roof rack yet.

Have fun. x

PetitFilou1 · 15/01/2008 13:53

Snooks well you are braver than me then. I was so not in that place at that point in time! I keep saying to myself, its ok, this is the last one...I will be 36 when this one is born (all going well as I am still only in the first trimester)

I have a 4 month old, 18 month old and a 3 year old.
All girls too!

It's a mad house and there are days when i get them out of the car and the eldest two run off in different directions!

And other days where i feel guilty as the 3 year old is far more responsible than her other friends of the same age. But occasionally i catch them all snuggling up together on the sofa and i know it's great for them growing up together like that.

My advice to anyone in a simal postion - buy all the mod cons! It might be pricey but no Mum wants to spend 10 minutes strapping in each car seat 12 times a day!

Anyway my main worry is when they are 13, 14 and 16!!! it'll be hair straighteners at dawn!

Liahgen but you sound like one of those 'born to be a mum' people. I am a 'born to work part time' kind of mother!

Vicx I have two sisters. Get them locks for their wardrobes so they can't steal each others clothes without asking - it'll be fine

In July I will have a 4.0yo, a 2.6yo and a newborn.

Vicx · 15/01/2008 14:02

Wardrobe locks are a fantastic idea! I wonder if they'll do them for boyfriends too lol

I've spent 4 consecutive years either pregnant or breastfeeding!

I was worried about going back to doing nights. But the thought that this was my last child and i would never have to do this again got me through the darker days!

liahgen · 15/01/2008 14:02

actually, it was all i ever wanted to do. Have just trained to be a doula so am fitting that in aswell now.
I love it when they all snuggle up together,

or when we had friends for luch the other day...

3 x 2 and half yr olds..very quiet, silly us.

on checking aforementioned teens room, found 3 giggling friends wearing £9 silver glitter eyeshadow on their cheeks, black eye liner on lips AND £12 LIPGLOSS AS NAIL POLISH, BLESS E

oops sorry caps baby on lap

largeginandtonic · 15/01/2008 14:04

Tis easy stop worrying

I had dd when the twins were 20 months, then ds#3 2 years after that followed by ds#4 2 and a half years later followed by ds#5 2 and a half years later.

The ages are now twins 9, dd 7, ds#3 5, ds#4 nearly 3, ds#5 7 months and i am desperate for #7

lulumama · 15/01/2008 14:06

number 7 !!!!!
go for it !

Vicx · 15/01/2008 14:06

Wow largeginandtonic i take my hat off to you.

liahgen · 15/01/2008 14:07

large G&T, what on earth car do you have?

largeginandtonic · 15/01/2008 14:07

Thanks Lulu

largeginandtonic · 15/01/2008 14:08

We have a Toyota Previa 8 seats, but if i have another we will have to find a 9 seater! I do not want a mini bus...

largeginandtonic · 15/01/2008 14:09

Aaaaarrrgghhhh the baby is trying to crawl, nooooooooooooooooo!!!!

largeginandtonic · 15/01/2008 14:10

Flask of tea sounds like an excellent idea! I have a thermos mug with lid for the mornings so i can take my earl grey with me on the school run

JodieG1 · 15/01/2008 14:11

When ds2 was born I had dd 4.10 and ds1 3.2, hard but worth it. Ds2 is now 12 months and still doesn't sleep well, I've been sleep deprived since he was born never getting more than 3 hours in a row Wouldn't change it for the world though.

snooks · 15/01/2008 14:12

I try to console myself with the fact that for the first few weeks (at least) newborns mostly sleep and eat oh and cry and poo. Now, I can deal with crying and pooey nappies standing on my head with eyes closed, so I'm more concerned with when this new one becomes her own personality with tantrums, likes/dislikes, separation anxiety, weaning etc etc. That's when I'll be tearing my hair out.
