My BFF just had her 2nd by C Section and I figure she deserved a present rather than the baby , any ideas ? Just wondering if anyone had any ideas so something they would appreciate or did appreciate ?

Nice food, snacks, meals. Luxury bubble bath, comfy pjs,magazines/books, good water bottle, nice drinks etc. I'd make up a little hamper.

GetThePaddlingPoolOut · 20/06/2022 19:26

Maybe some nice shower bits. Bath bits probably wouldn't get used. Comfy pj's, maybe something fancier than she'd buy herself or a cute loungerwear suit?

Lots of really nice ready made food, high in carbs. eg: a Cook delivery, a pile of posh ready meals, a pie from the butcher’s and chiller cabinet mash…

The absolute best post-baby gift I ever got was 2 days worth of M&S ready meals for me (veggie), dh (not veggie!) and toddler DS, with puddings and custard; a big box of decent tea bags and a big tin of biscuits.

Comfy loungewear that still looks nice to go out in! Or comfy pjs 😊

Soft tops, food to eat with one hand, chocolate brownies and biscuits are good!
A flask for tea/coffee/hot water. A magazine to flick through or book.

Some nice snacks 100%, things like a new hair brush, water bottle. Anything that is helpful for someone who will spend 90% of their day sitting/laying down.
Such a lovely thing to do Smile
Wish I had a friend like you when I had my two csections Star

RandomQuest · 20/06/2022 19:59

It’s quite personal so I’d focus less on the c section and more on what she actually likes and would appreciate. I’d want alcohol and non pasteurised cheese for sure. I’d think you’d lost your mind if you bought me a microwave meal or a hairbrush. But others would 100% be the other way around.

Food and chocolate

Franklefoot · 20/06/2022 20:12

My friend got me a voucher for here www.cookfood.net/
Really nice frozen ready meals, and think they have a discount for new parents too,

Chocoqueen · 20/06/2022 20:17

Everyone is different. For me - chocolate was the best present, but substitute this for their favourite snack. Really good nipple cream (if she's breastfeeding). I have various TV subscriptions but paying for 3 months off Netflix would have been great if I didn't have it already. Not sure what pram they've got by my friend was given a cup and phone holder for the handlebar which she loved. What about some nice make up (if she's into that)? If they have a favourite shop/coffee place then maybe a voucher?

Meals are generally said to be a good idea but I'd have felt pressured to use them by use by dates and I'd batch cooked/brought throw in the oven frozen food so my freezer was full. My mum and in laws did tend to bring a meal when they visited but that was prearranged. Think I'm in the minority there though!

Not flowers, I found them faffy when I had a newborn and we had to get MIL to bring us a vase as the 3 we had wasn't enough. But others would love them.

I was also given some nice bubble baths but hardly used them.

candyflossxox · 20/06/2022 20:25

Put together a little hamper of goodies...face mask, bath bomb, bath soak, wine, her fav chocolate/food. Stuff she can really chill out and relax with.

Oh yes! I'd have loved this!

JLQ1020 · 20/06/2022 20:29

Best present you can give is offer to look after baby and 1st born for a few hours so that mum n dad can sleep.

Or do household chores, tell them you are coming around for the first few weeks to do their ironing, washing, hoovering or something like that so they don't need it think about it.

Or take the older child out for a few hours.

If you want to buy a gift again meals, or tesco vouchers would be good.

itsabingting · 20/06/2022 20:49

Cook vouchers for delivery!
