Is a pregnancy massage worth it?

I was looking into having a pregnancy massage after a couple of people mentioning it.
I'm 36 weeks pregnant.
It's around £40 for 1 hour.
I'm feeling shattered lately, can't get comfortable and back hurts quite often.
Have you had a pregnancy massage?
Was it a bit of a hassle or totally worth it?

I had one and it was great. So relaxing and helped my sore back.

I had one at about 38 weeks. I hobbled and then an hour later I strode out! It was amazing!

I preferred it to my post pregnancy massage; where they wouldn’t put much pressure on or use any essential oils. For reasonable reasons, to be fair, but still.

I had one a few weeks ago at about 30 weeks and it felt amazing. It wasn't a hassle at all, I just had to lie on my side using a pregnancy type pillow.
I've not really suffered with aches and pains, but for me it was worth it to do something for myself, just be pampered and relax for an hour.

Yes

Why would it be hassle? It's lovely.

Oh thank you for your replies! That all sounds good then!
I think I might book one for this week if I can get in. I'm definitely feeling more tired and achey as I'm coming towards the end...!

With a good masseuse yes!

Definitely worth it if you can find a reputable therapist to have one done with. I have had two pregnancy massages, both in well known spa’s, one was fantastic and worth every penny, and the other, the poor girl didn’t have a clue what she was doing. Wanted me to lay on my front at 28 weeks pregnant, and then wanted me to lay flat on my back for an hour whilst she then done a facial 🤷🏽‍♀️ Of course I politely declined to do either, which is when I found out the bed didn’t even adjust anyway, so I had to lay on a stack of towels to raise my upper body for the facial.. she didn’t have a clue. So my only advise would be to call and find out if they have a specific pregnancy trained therapist for you, if so, then go for it!

I thought it would be awful cos how relaxing can a feathery strokey massage on your side be?

amazing, as it turns out, but second the PP who said make sure they are actually able to do a pregnancy massage not just a shonky normal massage. My masseuse said she can’t massage after 36 weeks so make sure you mention that too

I've had one every month since 20 weeks. This is my last pregnancy and it's been a real treat having something to look forward to just for me! I missed out on so much with my lockdown baby.

God a feathery strokey massage sounds terrible alright,I had deep tissue massage up to the end on each of my pregnancies, so fab.

Last time I had a shit one that wasn't relaxing, she talked all the way through it and I thought it wasn't worth the money.

I also had one at the Cowshed and it was fucking heavenly. I cried and then fell asleep. It was so soothing, relaxing and just what I needed. Will definitely go again this time round!

So I think it does depend on where you go.
