suspect this may just be another weird pregnancy pain but have sharp stabbing pain right up my ladybits - baby kicking ok and not masses of BH

do i need to get it checked out? could it be urine infection? feel ok otherwise and really cannot be bothered to spend hours sitting at maternity unit if not really necessary......

im glad you have posted this as im 26+ weeks and getting same thing happening to me.. just been at my sisters and she said its the pressure of baby.[i know my baby is head down ]. lets hope someone can give us some info on this.x

I experienced this when I was pregnant. Its just all your insides stretching, coping with pressure etc. It is uncomfortable but nothing to worry about I dont think. Perhaps your baby is breech and is kicking you with his little feet!

Hi rdk - hopefully someone can advise us - might ring the mw in a bit to see what she says - will let you know

LOL...I take it this is what you meant by 'lady bits'

Hi...I got this reguarly with DD2. Feels like someone jabbing a knitting needle up you????I remember walking round the shops and having to suddenly stop cause it felt like I was being stabbed..then it would go...it did get worse as I got heavier. Just another pregnancy pain but worth checking out if your worried!

I've got SPD and had it worse with my last preg. Feels like I'm being kicked in the groin by a donkey.

If it's SPD have a look at the Pelvic Partnership website for excellent advice and info. You might ned a support belt and a referral to the physio, but rest is th most important thing as excercise etc will only make it worse

moominsmummy · 15/01/2008 13:19

thanks - yes this sounds like exactly what's happening - had loads of braxton hicks in past few weeks too and am finally conceding that I do just need to slow down - that walking from train to office (brisk 15 min walk) is now out - 4 months of a slow waddle to look forward to!

sophi - thanks for SPD link - I have noticed it lessens if I "hold" my bump up with my hands so maybe a support belt might help

isn't pregnancy such fun???

moominsmummy, if u do speak to ur midwife let us know what she thinks about it .xx

moominsmummy · 15/01/2008 18:44

got fed up and eventually rang the hospital midwives who weren't particularly helpful - but said they thought it was nothing to worry about and suggested going to the GP tomorrow.

might try a warm bath to see if that helps - if not I think a slice of chocolate cake may be the most effective thing......

I am beginning to wonder if it's just the baby pushing on a nerve or similar?

rdk - let me know how you get on
thanks everyone else for your advice

moominsmummy - bypass the midwives if you can and go straight to the physiotherapy department in the maternity unit. Even if it's not SPD, they'll be far more sympathetic and will give you strategies to work on over the next few weeks.

When I had SPD with dd's pg my m/w said "oh it's just another pregnancy niggle". This was when I was crippled with pain and in tears trying to get onto the examination bed thingy

However this time round, last week she said "Oh how are your hips and pelvis by the way, because you were in agony last time?" - huh????

Anyway, I've been told that if it gets bad again (and it's bearable atm with a support belt on bad days) then I can self refer to the physio dept.
