Most comfortable way to breastfeed after C-section?

For mums that have had a C-section, where did you find the most comfortable place to breastfeed after a C-section? Is it common to spend the first few days/weeks breastfeeding mostly in bed? I don't really like being in our bedroom during the day as it faces a busy road and is very noisy during the day (as well as feeling exposed even with net curtains) but am not sure if I'll be comfortable enough on the couch which is quite sinky and doesn't have anywhere to put my feet up. Has anyone used a special chair for feeding in the early days and what sort of chair would be most comfortable and easy to get in and out of?

I breastfed twins after a c section and just sat up in a chair or sofa....found it easier to have my feet up on a stool at times in the hospital when they were very small and used a nursing pillow but didn't bother with the pillow much after first couple of weeks and had to get rid of the stool to make space for 2 Moses baskets. Maybe you are over thinking this too much? You'll be glad to sink back in a lovely squishy sofa trust me 😂 Most women recover from a c section within a couple of weeks tops x

Had an EMCS with DS and just fed him in a normal chair, with a feeding cushion for support. Never had an issue.

I fed on the sofa using the rugby hold for a good while after baby was born and it was the comfiest position for me as it avoids baby getting near your C section wound! xx

I’m almost 3 weeks post section and fed at a breast feeding group on Thursday and in a cafe for the first time today. I found bed to be the worst place as not upright enough to get a good latch and unable to reach anything easily mostly due to using a next to me and having no space for a bedside table. At night I do an occasional feed in bed but mostly get up and sit in a rocking chair and have water, muslins, nipple cream and my manual pump etc next to it. I feed on the sofa during the day. I sometimes stick a normal cushion under my arm or behind my back but don’t really bother with bf cushions anymore and I have a few I was given.

Except for difficult going from lying to sitting for about 8 - 10 days my recovery has been great. I had mastitis last week and that hurt much worse!!

I have kept moving (gently) from day 1 and on top of pain relief but haven’t needed any for a few days. Try out some different bf positions and see what works best I’ve found what I prefer has changed as I’m able to move more easily.

I've had two c sections. I breastfed in bed at night and on the sofa or whatever chair I happened to be sitting on during the day. I had no issue sitting up or holding the baby or anything. I would have lost my mind with boredom sitting in bed all day to feed, I wanted to be up and about right from the start.

It depends on the baby, the mum, the recovery, etc. Definitely not weeks feeding in bed unless that's what you want, and you'd definitely need to be moving around a lot in between.

Side lying, laid back feeding, propped up with pillows, cradle hold, cross cradle hold, rugby hold, upright koala hold, all might work and more so just try all sorts of positions until you find what works for you.

Thanks everyone for the reassurance! I probably am over thinking it. I'm starting to find sitting on my sofa really uncomfortable and was wondering if it will be even worse after the C-section but it's probably just late pregancy discomfort.

I was comfortable enough feeding in a sofa, chair or bed from day 1. I used a feeding pillow for the first few weeks though. For me it was more moving around/standing up that was uncomfortable, I had no pain at all once sitting or lying down comfortably.

I just sat on the sofa it wasn’t too bad

It's not quite what you asked but after emcs I was super uncomfortable until I got my breast friend feeding pillow. It looks a bit ridiculous with the strap and back support but it was a lifesaver for me!

Two emergency sections, fed both in chairs/on the sofa. Hated the rugby ball hold so just held them both across my chest and it was fine.

If it makes you feel better I hated sitting on the sofa towards the end of pregnancy - it was so uncomfortable and I couldn't bear it - but that went away pretty much as soon as baby was born!
