Any natural hair dyes for first trimester?

I'm very early days pregnant after multiple ivfs and 3 miscarriages. I have nearly black hair and prominent white roots. I asked the nurse at the miscarriage clinic today if I could dye my hair and she said it's best to wait until 12 weeks, especially as it's an ivf pregnancy and would be on my scalp, not just highlights or whatever.

I can't work out if Henna is ok as it's natural. Anyone know? It does say something about can cause allergic reactions, so it's probably not ok. I'm currently using one of those eyeshadow type things on my roots, but it's not going to cut it for long. It's going to really affect my confidence, but obviously I don't want to cause a risk.

Ooh congrats by the way!
Iv never heard of this was going to suggest the root touch ups but u are already using them. Hmm maybe look on Pinterest on ways to do hair with roots invest in some cute headbands and hair clips maybe. Health is definitely more important at this stage and would definitely listen to the advice told.

Congratulations!

I used Korres home dye kits a Greek brand using natural ingredients - no ammonia, no SLS etc. it left my hair very glossy and in great condition. The only drawback was that the colours didn't vary that much and mostly they were darker than the packets suggested. But this is a few years ago so perhaps the formulations have changed.

After all that treatment to get pregnant I would embrace the roots x I'm saying that as i went through 8 years of ivf x

Thank you very much everyone. I think I’m going to have to try and hold out and just stick with root touch up power stuff. Looking on Pinterest is a good idea.

@Dementedswan 8 years, bloody hell. I hope you got your happy ending. I’ve done 2 1/2 (4 1/2 ttc) with this being my sixth transfer (plus lots of dummy cycles, biopsy cycles, cancelled per way through cycles etc), and the only ivf that’s resulted in a pregnancy. Three miscarriages were all natural and I’ve had two surgeries to fix issues. I’m on all sorts of immune treatment now, so I’m hoping this one will stick.

still sad about my roots! I’m just not ready to be grey.

NHS guidance is that henna is safe Smile it can do very strange things to your colour though if it’s already been box dyed so I’d speak to a hairdresser first!

Ooh, thank you! I will look into it and I could test it on a hidden area

I used henna but it was an expensive ball ache going back to dye. It looked great for a while but leak when I went swimming and faded quickly.

Thank you. I'm not allowed to swim until 12 weeks anyway, so not an issue for me.

I use naturtint on my chronically ill family member and it is has no side effects for her, and she is very allergic to lots of things. However not sure how it would be for pregnancy. But it is a very gentle dye with good coverage, leaves hair soft and shiny, no ammonia and lots of natural ingredients, can get from Holland and Barrett.
