Hi All

Had my first ever BFP which puts me at 4 weeks and 6 days currently. What happens next appointment wise? I'm the type who likes to plan 🤣

Congratulations!

You'll need a booking appointment with the community midwife, usually between 7 and 11 weeks. Some areas you book directly with the midwives, others you book at your GP. If you Google maternity services in your area you should be able to find out 😊

Congratulations 😊
I think it differs slightly depending on where you live but this is what happens where I am (Notts):

  1. Call the midwife service after the weekend - Google for the number. They will give you brief advice eg take folic acid and vit d and check for any serious health problems which would need urgent monitoring. They will take your details.
  2. They will send your details forward and you will get your booking appointment through the post. Mine was at roughly 8 weeks.
  3. Your booking appointment is v detailed. They will check blood, bp and urine. They'll ask LOADS of q's - some won't seem relevant but they will help to build a picture of the support you may need. They will tell you at this appointment a more detailed plan of your care throughout pregnancy.
  4. You will get a 12 week scan appointment also through the post.

The wait for your first appointment and scan will feel like YEARS!

@RebeccaCloud9 thank you! Love the level of detail in your comment, it's what I needed! I keep thinking when's this gunna happen & when is that going to happen. Doesn't help that I've tested at like 7pm the night before two bank holidays so everywhere was closed haha!
