Pins and needles!

Morning,

I'm 38 weeks pregnant with my first baby, in the past couple of weeks I've been experiencing pins and needles in my hands particularly at night and sometimes during day. It seems to be gradually getting worse now and again then disappearing.

I've seen Dr and Midwife who have checked my BP (all ok) and no sign of pre-eclampsia, no protein in urine.

I have very mild swelling now and again (when hot) but other than that no other complaints.

My vitamin b12 was low at 30 weeks so I've had had a course of 6 injections prescribed and I'm on 4 of 6 with last two next week (due to Bank hol) Dr said it's likely this causing it.

I'm not overly concerned as Dr wasn't, reading up it does say it's common and can be carpel tunnel.

Anyone else experienced this?

I have a follow up apt next weds. X

I have this (started at about 34 weeks) and it is carpal tunnel. It's to do with increased fluid in the carpal tunnel area compressing nerves (according to my osteopath) and should go away post pregnancy. I've been told the dest thing is to regularly move your wrists: rotations, do stretches where you push back your hand at a 90 degree angle with your other hand. And also try to not 'claw' your hands at night and go to sleep with them in more of a prayer hands position.

Thank you, glad someone else is experiencing it as it's quite worrying when it goes on so long.

I'll try sleeping with my hands in the prayer position and doing some stretches.
