11 weeks and bleeding. Miscarriage or cervical erosion?

Hi everyone, just wondering if anyone else has ever had any similar experiences to this?

I’m 11 weeks pregnant, had a private scan at 9+6 weeks which showed strong heartbeat, growth bang on target and no other problems to be seen, cervix closed etc.

We’re away on hols at the moment (UK) and last night I went to the toilet and there was some bright red blood. I’ve had TERRIBLE constipation (am on iron tablets, plus pre existing IBS), and last night I was awake all night with stomach. Tried several times to go, and ended up straining. After the last attempt blood appeared (definitely from front not back).

So, basically wondering if this is sign of miscarriage or something else? No pain so far. Red blood is still there this morning but only when I wipe. Not much I can do whilst we’re away from home!

In my previous pregnancy I had a cervical erosion. It caused spotting & brown blood but never bright red fresh stuff. Has anyone had erosions in multiple pregnancies, and do you know if I’ve had one before is it likely I’ll have one again?

This sounds like when I had a sub chorionic bleed at 9 weeks. There wasn’t loads of blood or clotting, but it was bright red. I also had some cramping so as you can imagine, expected the worst. But there he was on the screen, wriggling away. I also had a bleed at 18 weeks, again, not much blood but it was bright red. No explanation this time, but baby was there on the screen again, wriggling away.

When I walked into the EPU crying, before he had examined me, the very kind obstetrician said to me that everything would be fine, and not to worry! I guess from the description I gave, ie no clots and not a lot of blood, his experience told him that it was likely the baby would be fine, and lo and behold, he was. I hope this gives you some reassurance.

I was also told at the 18 week bleed hospital admission that straining to go to the loo can cause vaginal bleeding, as can sex.

Thanks, that’s reassuring to know that there could be other causes of bleeding! Still getting some blood now, though it hasn’t got worse and still no pain. Will just have to wait it out. Just getting worried because I had an early miscarriage recently, though that started with pain.
