Constant nausea. What to eat?

I'm 8 weeks pregnant and I've been feel absolutely awful the past 2 weeks. I feel constant nausea the moment I wake up in the morning until I go back to bed in the evening. The same applies for headaches. I haven't actually vomited yet but I constantly feel like I'm about to. Then I'm constantly hungry but I can't stand the smell of food. Currently I'm just eating bread, ice lollies and fruits as these things are the only things that I can eat without feeling even more sick.

I'm taking my prenatal vitamins but I'm still concerned I'm not eating nutritious enough?

I really understand as I had similar and it sucks

I tried to think in categories of what to eat as often the thinking about a specific food triggered more nausea, so something soft or crunchy, hot or cold, saucy or dry.

then dont be constrained by usual combinations. One morning I had weetabix with steak sliced thin and very cold, makes me queasy to think about it now, but it worked at the time

try and nibble on a cracker in the middle of the night

try and add magnesium and vit d pills to your diet as we are mostly deficient and that can drive headaches.

try eating foods very cold if not semi frozen as it reduces the smell and that can drive more nausea

I ended up taking anti nausea medicine (one that is used for cancer patients mostly) and it helped a lot

Thank you for sharing those tips!
I'm feeling the same. I definitely prefer cold food at the moment. I can't drink tea or soup just the thought makes me want to vomit as well.

What helps me relief my nausea temporarily is cold fruit out of the fridge. But if I eat too much fruit I get digestive problems. It's a pain. I will try to find out what triggers the most.

Do you like ginger in any form? Some women find that that helps their nausea in pregnancy.

Ah this stage was rough for me OP so you have my sympathy.
I also preferred cold food and really liked cold fruit from the fridge. I could also stomach carrot, pepper or cucumber sticks with humous or salsa. Or the odd ready made salad. Might be worth a try?
Milkshake or flavoured milk was also a winner, as were haribo tangfastics, although they wouldn’t have been much help nutritionally!

Try not to worry too much. If you’re anything like me you’ll feel better at some point in your second trimester and make up for it.

I'm in this stage at the moment. I've found that forcing myself to eat (even a dry cracker) regularly helps a bit. Even though I don't feel like it.

I also had constant nausea up until 16 weeks, all day long. There wasnt much food I could eat, and I found anything hard to digest, especially carbs, made it worse. I mainly ate grated carrots, courgettes and bananas as I found they didnt sit on my stomach and were easily digested

I feel your pain! I had really bad nausea until 14weeks ish. My midwife did say that the important thing is you eat something at this stage, so we're getting energy rather than fixating on what we eat. Staying hydrated is really important so drink lots of water. You'll be getting vitamins from the vitamin tablets.

I found what helped was to eat a gingernut biscuit before I got up - literally mostly lying down - so my body got a sugar hit. My nausea was always worse when my stomach was empty so I basically nibbled ritz crackers for three months. Also hummus on bread - the stodgier the better.

I pretty much lived on salt and vinegar crisps at that stage as they were the only thing I could stomach. When I had a good day I could sometimes manage instant mash or plain pasta but I ate no fruit/veg/protein for a couple of months and DS was totally fine. Don't worry about the baby as it will take what it needs from you

I found that the first thing more substantial than crisps or biscuits I could eat was peanut butter and sliced banana on toast- seemed to go down fine :)
