I’ve got covid, anyone else get this in pregnancy? GP worried me a bit

I’m 17 weeks and very worried. Had been feeling awful for 3 days, started to feel a bit better and just decided to test, not sure why, and it was positive. I’ve asked the GP and they said it should be no harm to baby but as it’s new and babies born following covid are only 2 now, they can’t be 100% that it won’t cause issues as child gets older. This has really worried me!! Feel exhausted and just wanted to post in case anyone has similar worries and how they dealt with it. Thanks.

Sorry to read that you’re feeling unwell. I do think the GP was wrong to worry you like that. Yes there are unknowns with a new virus but because they are unknown he really shouldn’t be getting you worried like that.

I had covid in third trimester in this pregnancy and honestly it felt no worse than a cold and bubba seems absolutely fine.

Ensure you stay hydrated and keep temperature down with paracetamol if you’re struggling with a temperature. But you cannot let fear of a possible future unknown stress you, you’ve got covid now, there’s nothing you can do about it sadly but you can’t let it consume your mental health. Focus on the here and now. Xx

Don't worry OP. Hopefully you're fully vaccinated, do as the previous poster advised.

Loads of threads on this already, by the way, just type "Mumsnet covid pregnancy" into Google.

I had covid in February in my third trimester. My baby is fine - and not only that, my husband just caught covid from a wedding we all went to, loads of people went down with it but she didn’t catch it and neither did I so she must have got antibodies from me 🙂

The GP is just covering their arse with that stupid comment. I’m not anti-vax in the slightest but the same thing could be said about those too, but they wouldn’t say that would they! It drives me mad when people make comments to pregnant women without thinking 😡

You’ll both be okay I’m sure ❤️

I had it at 33 weeks. All was fine. I wasn't really ill (had all 3 jabs) and baby was absolutely fine.

I think it’s rotten on your gp to say that and worry you.
My sister in law had covid in her third trimester. She felt awful and really run down but she was fully vaccinated and was okay. The baby was healthy and born just after due date with no issues.
I has my covid booster during my pregnancy and was okay. 2 weeks after my dd was born my husband and I caught covid from a family visitor. We didn’t test our newborn but she was congested and sounded really blocked with a little cough. Thankfully we all recovered within 10 days and she was still happy and alert throughout.

I had covid at 17 weeks. I was unvaccinated. It was SO mild - a bit tired, runny nose - that was it. Baby is 4 months now and a very healthy boy

The vaccine should prevent you from being too ill.

I had it at 37 weeks and it was just like a really bad cold. My midwife gave me a pulse ox meter to check daily and let her know if anything changed. If symptoms worsened or baby's movement reduced I was to call MAU asap.

Baby is 5 weeks today and so far, no signs she's been affected.

(I have had 2 vaccinations & a booster pre-covid)

I've just posted about this on another thread - please do not worry! And also don't Google!
The only websites I would recommend checking at the NHS and Tommy's.
I had Covid at 20 weeks in march and was terrified, so I called Tommy's and spoke to a midwife there. They have done a lot of research into Covid and have found absolutely NO link to fetal abnormalities (something that concerned me greatly as my first baby had an abnormality that was unrelated to Covid). As long as you've had at least two vaccines she said there's no cause for concern.
She recommended staying hydrated, checking my temperature regularly and to keep moving so that blood keeps flowing. She also recommended buying an oximeter to keep an eye on oxygen levels, but they were always fine. If you have any worries or you feel that something isn't right, call your maternity assessment centre. They will see you now even with Covid.
Also, I had a scan following when the Covid had gone and my baby was absolutely fine, and is perfectly growing at almost 30 weeks 🥰
A midwife actually said she may have some antibodies herself now!
So make sure you rest and try not to worry, these little babies are very resilient 💖
