Hi all, I’m 18 weeks pregnant and I’ve contracted threadworm from my little one. I’m beside myself. My LO had it last year for the first time and I actually developed a diagnosed phobia, which thankfully I’ve had treatment for (otherwise I would be in an even worse state 😩) Dr has advised hygiene measures but due to my anxiety has said I can take the ovex treatment if I feel I can’t cope. I feel absolutely stuck between a brick and a hard place. I feel if I take the medication I’ll have the anxiety of if it’s caused any problems, but if I dont, I’ve got potentially 6+ weeks of sever anxiety (Found out yesterday through seeing one in my poo and haven’t slept at all with the worry/fear) plus strict hygiene measures that may not get rid of them anyway. Has anyone had any experience of threadworm in pregnancy? Did you take Ovex and was all ok? Any home/natural remedies that have helped get rid of them? Any advise or experiences, please share. X

@Dollygolly sounds like you might be nearly rid of them though. If you can hold out the extra two weeks and see, you may not need the meds. I assume the rest of the household has had the two doses of ovex? That’s key to ensuring no re infection, particularly if you have other kids. Keeping everything crossed for you.

Thanks! Yes everyone is double dosed and will get a third to be on the safe side. I’ll let everyone know the outcome - I really think a lot of the natural remedies are nonsense (my limited experience) in terms of expediting the six week process. If the worms had a real problem with carrots, sesame seeds, garlic, DE, grapefruit extract, apple cider vinegar, they would have left my body a long time ago!

Do not take Ovex without first consulting a doctor or midwife.

You will need to do a hot wash of all bedding, underwear, and pajamas, and hoover and if possible damp mop all floors.

All towels need to be washed after use, same goes for bathmats. Keep towels in a separate laundry basket and hot wash.

Your laundry basket needs to be washed too.

Bathroom floor needs to be mopped daily.

Cut everyone's finger nails short amd make sure your LO and everyone else in the famimy washes hands frequently. Use a nail brush daily.
