Has anyone been told the gender at 12 week scan?

Had my 12 week scan today.. measuring at 12+2 the sonographer did see the nub and guessed boy from it. Has this happened to anyone else and it been wrong? Was really hoping for a girl after 2 boys but have kind of lost all hope now 😂🙈 I don’t have any pics so can’t even post it here 😢

DD1 is now 11yo.

But I had my scan at a university hospital, by the Professor of the department, a 3D scan not a normal one. . Was asked if we minded him explaining early indicators of sex with his students. But made it clear it wasn't an exact science!

He was right as it happened.

As a contrast, the sonography couldn't tell DD2s sex at the 20 week s an as she couldn't get a clear view and didn't want to guess.

Im new to this so Im not sure if I’m replying properly on this thread but hopefully I am 🤞thanks for all of your feedback girls 🙏 Im just not sure what to make of it all at this point Im just going to wait unil 16 week and go for another private scan before we do a gender reveal xx

Hi all,
this is my first post, so excuse late replies!! 🤗
so I’m 13 weeks pregnant and I had my first ultrasound this morning.. I’m super impatient when it comes to finding out the sex and knowing we’ve got to wait 7 more weeks until we find out the gender for certain is killing me already!!
a lot of people have said there’s obvious “boys bits” but I’m not seeing it and I don’t really understand all this nub stuff either!
I’ve already got two boys so was kind of hoping for abit of pink but feel like I’ve no hope now😂😂

@Bobbypin55 I don't y think there is anything in the scan giving anything away!! You can do a private scan if you really want to find out earlier? We found out at 15 and 4! It was very very obvious 😂

I’m begging my husband for an early gender scan but he’s being boring atm 😂🙈 keeps saying no 🤯 ahaha we had an early one with our youngest son and they didn’t need to tell us 😂

The lady said she at my 12 week 2 days scan but I didn't take it seriously..just as well because he is now 3.5 years old. The nub often looks girly till about 12.5 weeks minimum and then can rise. This can happen too nearly 14 weeks. A private scan at 15 weeks confirmed a boy.

@ExcitedMummmy I would guess boy from your scan (only because it looks like my sons 😁) but I'm very surprised the places confirmed the sex to you as you can't accurately at 13 weeks (why you have two different opinions!)

13 weeks is to early for a sexing scan. The nub sometimes doesn't rise till nearly 14 weeks which means your baby might look like a girl at 13 weeks and by 14 weeks the nub may have risen so it will be clear it's a boy.

A sonographer shouldn't be saying that at a 12w scan.

But, it is possible....I've never guessed wrong from a 12w scan photo.

You can tell. My friends a midwife and the sonographer let her in on it at her 12 week scan. They were colleagues so guessing this wasn’t normal practice.

We had same lady for both of our 12 weeks scans and she correctly guessed gender both times using nub theory, first was a boy, second was a girl

with my first 2 dc I lived in area that didn’t have 12 week scans so I paid for private ones. Both times they told me the sex confidently and both were correct.
with dc3 I had a baby bond scan at 15 weeks they said almost certain boy but as they weren’t 100% I could go back to check in a week so I did and then they said girl which she was.

I did in my last pregnancy and it was correct (girl).

I have been in this pregnancy too. Was told early girl and turns out he's a late rising boy!

Both pregnancies guesses were based on skull and nub theory. DS must have a girly head 🤣
