Baby measuring 3kg already at 32+4

Just had another growth scan and my baby is measuring bigger (I have gestational diabetes) he’s already measuring over 6 pound and I can’t help but cry. I’m so upset right now… I’ve been diet controlled for the past 3 weeks (starting insulin tonight) and she’s still measuring bigger… I’m so overwhelmed. What is she gonna be measuring in 4 weeks time? Her stomach and head are already 4 weeks ahead. I’m measuring nearly 4 weeks ahead, I’m a mess ☹️

I developed type 1 diabetes when pregnant and my baby was big. I had a planned section but my baby decided to arrive 9 days before at just under 37 weeks and weighed 4.6kg. He wasn't chubby just long. Glad didn't try to push him out!

It's an estimated weight and they're so often wrong. Take the insulin and just see how things progress.

I had no GD and baby was 10 lb 3. Sometimes life deals you large kiddies.

I had many growth scans because they were worried my baby was small. At 38 weeks she was estimated at 2.6kg. She was born 8 days later at 3.8kg!!

I had multiple scans during pregnancy and at each one I was told that the baby was around the 50th centile and would weigh around 7lb6oz at birth. He was 8lb13oz! I would take the measurements with a pinch of salt, if I were you...

Thanks everyone. Doctors don’t seem too concerned. All they said was baby might be too big too push out lol 😂

I measured 3 weeks ahead, DD was born at 39+5 weighing 9lb and 1/2oz but with a 98th percentile head circumference. I had a normal vaginal delivery with entonox and morphine, small 2nd degree tear that required 2 stitches and didn't give me any further problems.

Just make sure you have your baby in a full maternity unit, not at home or stand alone midwifery led unit, so that you have back up options and I'm sure you will be fine.

The closer to the birth the more inaccurate the measurements of the baby tend to be. At 40 weeks baby was apparently measuring at 9lb 4oz, baby was born 2 days later weighing 7lb 13oz.
