Old thread i know but thought i'd mention i was referred to a diff hospital 2 days b4 EDD!! long story but basically my NHS trust won't do waterbirth. decided to just go along and labour in water at an MLU, roof fell down week b4 EDD. Could ahve done homebirth but no money at short notice for pool hire. Another trust's hospital did water so i went there! Glad for it as a much better atmosphere and had a UNICEF "babyfriendly" award (look for that especially if you hopefully want to breastfeed). Next time (if htb is persuaded) i'll go for homebirth. In the end though my labour was so quick (and easy) the pool wasn't ready in time. I was 40 + 15 days, 90 minute labour just gas+ air, no stitches. Great!

PS I am a member of my local MSLC (maternity services liason committee) as a laymember i inform the consultants and m/ws what i think as a "consumer" and basically ge to moan at them about stuff i don't like. NHS trust always need laymembers for MSLC's. If you fancy it contact your local PCT (in the phone book) or community health council. You get expenses!

I changed the hospital I was with as I was transferred from home, simply told the paramedics that was where I was going and nowhere else! It was the same distance so they took me there :-) It's a long story ...
