Reduced movements

Possible TW (reduced movements)

24+4 and baby girl has been very active since 16-17 weeks, she mainly moves in the morning and night however, she kicks me every now and then to remind me she’s still there during the day.

Today I’ve been up since 7:30am and it’s now 5:00pm which is 9hours and 30 minutes, I’ve not felt her move once. Obviously I won’t notice her kicking in my sleep so the last time I felt her move was 9:30pm last night. I’ve had a bath, I’ve had cold/fizzy drinks, I’ve put my feet up, but she’s not made a single kick, not even a weak one.

I’ve been having some cramping on and off but it’s not painful💗Can anyone offer any advice on what too do please? I remember being in a fair bit for reduced movements with my first but I honestly can’t remember if it was this early on or not🤦🏻‍♀️

Thank you in Advance X

I always give the same advice. If you feel movemens are different or less than usual, ring your maternity unit and arrange to go in. They won't mind and will encourage you to go in you are worried.

Always better to play it safe. I know it can feel like you are causing a bit of a fuss but it is their job and they will encourage you to come in.

I hope everything is fine.

ginslinger · 30/05/2022 17:13

please contact your maternity unit ASAP - reduced movements need to be taken seriously. It's entirely probably that all is fine but you need to be checked

annalisesmithx · 30/05/2022 17:14

@BrownRogerForever thank you for this comment. It makes me feel a little calmer about ringing, I do feel like im causing a fuss but like you say they'll rather me go in sooner rather than later.

Thank you again! X

If in doubt ring. They'll pop you on a monitor for a bit and see how she's doing.

annalisesmithx · 30/05/2022 17:17

@ginslinger I'll ring them up! Thank you xx

Definitely ring them. I had reduced movements at 25+6 and got myself into a state. Hadn't felt baby for a few hours - I called and they asked me to go straight in. They listened in on baby and did my blood pressure. Was home within an hour and they said if I am ever worried again to ring up - they would prefer you to be seen than sitting at home worrying or baby being unwell and them not knowing. Baby was tucked up facing my back when I went in xx

Never feel silly for ringing about reduced movements it's always better to err on the side of caution.

Caaarrrl · 30/05/2022 18:49

Did you ring them, OP?

annalisesmithx · 30/05/2022 18:58

@Caaarrrl I have rang them! Getting ready and making my way down to Labour and delivery, I rang the antenatal assessment ward but because I've felt 0 movement they wanted me to contact Labour ward. I'll update soon x

You did the right thing. Fingers crossed for you and baby!

Twizbe · 30/05/2022 20:02

Fingers crossed all is ok

SoSleepyMustWork · 30/05/2022 20:13

Are you okay OP?

TheFrustratedRedhead · 30/05/2022 20:32

You have definitely done the right thing OP. It’s also important to mention that movements shouldn’t ever reduce towards the end when baby is bigger. I have seen this dangerous advice given on pregnancy apps and things. Xx

Moonshine160 · 30/05/2022 21:07

Hope you’re ok OP, you did the right thing by phoning.

brokenheartedmam · 30/05/2022 21:13

Learn from my mistakes and never ignore reduced movements no matter how many times you’ve been in, how much you think you might be overreacting, no matter how much you think you’re irritating the midwives. None of that matters - your baby does. Get checked. I’m sure you’re fine but you just need to check, always.

brokenheartedmam · 30/05/2022 21:13

Sorry, I’ve just seen you phoned. I’m glad. I hope you get reassurance soon.

strawberrysummer19 · 30/05/2022 21:21

Hope you ok op and got your reassurance
Second post I've read on this tonight and for me it's a worry where I've been in 3 times since 20wks
Never be worried to call in
They are always so lovely x sure all is fine xx

SurpriseSurprise · 30/05/2022 21:50

Hope you’re ok OP

annalisesmithx · 31/05/2022 09:15

Hello everyone! Sorry I've not updated in a while, they listened to baby girls heart and it was in the 150's. They did my observations and dipped my urine, and said everything was fine with those and because she had a healthy heartbeat they're happy to discharge me but just to make sure I ring up if it happens again.

She's been moving all morning but I think I've got thrush, as last few days it's been a bit itchy (sorry for tmi) and swollen but today had some discharge and had a pink tinge to some of it but had no more since. So now waiting on docs to ring me to get me on the correct medication.

Thank you all for your advice!xx
