Hi all,

Just 22 weeks gone. scan showed breech baby. Not surprised as been getting lots of kicks on the cervix. That's quite painfull.

Any techniques to turn baby?
When do you start worrying about it? ( it's still very early I guess, womb is still roomy at this stage)

Does breech always=ceasarean?

DS1 was always well engaged so never worried about reech issue. All I know is I DO NOT WANT a ceasarean.

all info welcome.

22w is too early to tell, babies don't turn head down untill around 36w... so don't worry

lulumama · 13/01/2008 13:40

erm, both my babies were head down at 28 weeks !

but, what is true, is that there is loads and loads of time for your baby to turn

do a search on here, there are loads of tips about turning a breech

hae a look at gentlebirth.org

spinningbabies.com

also have a look at optimal foetal positioning

moxibustion and pulsatilla can be used, acupuncture and homeopathic remedies

ECV can be done

and you can have a vaginal delivery of a breech baby, but you might need to fight for it

At 22 weeks I would even be starting to worry, honestly. Midwives don't even start feeling for the baby's position until about 28 weeks and even then there is still masses of time for him/her to turn round.

DaisyMoo · 13/01/2008 13:44

Sorry, should say wouldn't even be starting to worry

carmenelectra · 13/01/2008 13:55

i know its worrying but 22 weeks means loads of time to turn. Baby has stacks of room yet to turn and probably is on a daily basis, you are just not aware. By 34 wks if is breech then you will be scanned and you can then look at the options, but techncally you will be ok till 36 wks. i know what you mean tho, that has always been my fear, CS for breech or low lying placenta(which i had with last baby!).

If worst come to the worst as its your second, theres no reason why you caouldnt ahve vaginal breech

Thx ladies.
Just reading Birth by Tina Cassidy at the moment and the gory details just got to me.

Will let it lie for now (well quite litterally) and come back later if necessary to learn about those techniques.
