Have you tried any of these double prams?

I can't decide which is best. Will have 18 months gap! Thank you x

Following with interest as will have the same age gap! All prams I've seen you seem to have to put one under and they can't see! X

It's a double buggy but the Joie Aire double is suitable for newborns because it reclines. I had a 2 year gap and I've found it fantastic because it's so easy to lift in and out of the car. And it even fits through the doors inside my house. I've only found one door that it didn't fit through and I've had it 6 months now. Oldest is 98th percentile but fits fine still at two and a half.

I've got the Uppa baby vista and it's so easy to set up, collapse etc.

Doesiteverhelp · 28/05/2022 18:00

@MumOfThreeNotTwo
Thanks for that!
Does it do well on more rocky pavements or off road? I don't live in the city...

TheSnowyOwl · 28/05/2022 18:01

I had the Uppababy. It had a great basket and was fine on very flat ground (I had to pick it up at the front just to go up a curb) but I soon swapped it for an Out n About double and never looked back.

Both options are sooo expensive. I’ve seen the Cybex Gazelle in person in Mothercare. Looks really slim and fancy tbh. I went for the Babylo Zummi Halo double as it’s way more sturdier. Age gap is 11 months

BertieBotts · 28/05/2022 18:08

The gazelle is awful, so flimsy. Go for the Uppababy.

I find it fantastic off road! If we want to go to the park etc it's brilliant

linerforlife · 28/05/2022 18:21

I have the Uppababy vista and it's so sturdy and really suits my semi rural lifestyle. It can cope with off road well but also is super smooth and easy to manoeuvre on smooth surfaces.

FrodisCapering · 28/05/2022 18:29

There's 18 months between my two children and we have the Uppababy. I've nothing to compare it to, as we bought it before the first child was born, but it's been great. Kids are now 3.5 and almost 2 and it still gets used. Very robust on all terrains, easy to move and lots of storage. It's easy enough to collapse and fits fine in our boot.

FrodisCapering · 28/05/2022 18:30

You can get up curbs just fine if you either go backwards or put your foot on a back wheel and push down.

Then your idea of off road is absolutely nothing like the forest here.

girlmom21 · 28/05/2022 20:10

@TheSnowyOwl I've used it perfectly fine in some pretty remote locations but I'm not going to belittle your experience 🤷‍♀️

Doesiteverhelp · 28/05/2022 20:29

I currently have the cybex priam

I would say it works off road... as in I can push it but it is quite shaky... especially in the forest.

But I wouldn't expect much more from the vista tbh.

We also have the babyzen yoyo and this does NOT work off road.

Yummymummy2020 · 28/05/2022 20:36

I have the wave and the new baby can face you at the top in the carrycot and the older child face out, would you consider it? I have found It very good.it pushes nicely in the park too!

boydy99 · 28/05/2022 20:58

not what you asked but I picked up a bugaboo donkey on marketplace for £200 recently (and ordered a new mattress for the carrycot). Will have a 2.5 year age gap. so far it's brilliant, we've had it out in single and double mode, the chassis folds up fairly small considering the size of it, its fab off road, and my 2 yo seems to like it.

OtiMama · 29/05/2022 08:44

I have an uppababy and really rate it, good on all terrain, easy to put up and down and big basket. Only negative is the weight but its OK.

I still don't know the answer re what double to get for us but if you have proper rough terrain the out n about double may be better, so many people rave about it. The only thing for me is sometimes I may want just a single pram and that's why I'm thinking of just converting my uppababy. My son is 19 months and we don't use a pram for everything with him, so know we won't when baby arrives, more if I need to contain him or longer days out.

Sunnyshoeshine · 29/05/2022 08:51

@SunnySideUp2020 Are you rural or city based?

I have the uppababy vista and we are SW London. I LOVE mine - it's brilliant because we don't have a car so the massive basket is such a bonus. It's done loads of long distance travel with me to family all around the UK. I only have one DC at the moment, but we did buy it to future proof ourselves a bit for if we have a second.

But no doubt that it looks like a tank compared to other buggies in London and took some getting used to on the tube because its so big. I do have a slight pang of envy when i see people hopping on the train with their babyzen yoyo as i lug the vista on board. 😂🙈

SunnySideUp2020 · 29/05/2022 08:54

Yes that s also a good point I may like to just have it single way for some stuff especially when my DD is at nursery and I just have the baby.. and that's why I wasn't keen on the side by side initially.
Will look into the donkey!

the donkey does single mode too. the chassis is expandable so it can accommodate 2 seats/carrycots or the single set up - one seat plus a small basket. there are clips on the chassis and you just slide it over and clip it back up, really easy!
