Summer maternity wear help!

Lastminuteaddition · 25/05/2022 23:10

I’m due in October and working through the summer, I’m already too warm in jeans! I’m struggling to find light cotton trousers or much summer wear at all really, I’ve tried the obvious high street brands but all I can find is more jeans! I prefer simple clothes, not too floral. Am I missing any maternity gems? Help!

ASOS has loads of maternity clothes, if you just search maternity it comes back with nearly 3,000 hits and they have 20% off everything at the moment.

Paprikapommes · 25/05/2022 23:17

Following, as I have no idea what I'll wear.

Regenbogen22 · 26/05/2022 05:10

Dresses!

Grace185 · 26/05/2022 05:47

H&M was good for me and I also bought some loose dresses/long tops from supermarkets in a size above my normal size and paired with maternity leggings

Marden11302 · 26/05/2022 05:50

I’ve bought all my maternity clothes from boohoo, they’ve got a good range

wishuponastar1988 · 26/05/2022 07:23

Sainsburys have some lovely clothes in (I have a couple of midi dresses that aren't maternity I just sized up) and then one maternity dress. They often have 20% off too so I got the dresses for about £12 each! X

I'm further along than you but have found that I can still wear my loose summer dresses from pre-pregnancy days e.g. the type of thing cos, arket, monki etc sell. I've also got a couple of maternity dresses from nobody's child and new look that Ive been wearing to work with tights, and now wear without. None of them are floral! Monki is especially good because they do a lot of purposely oversized things. If you get stuff with buttons down the front it will be good for breastfeeding next summer too. I also have maternity t shirts/vests and shorts from h&m, which are great.

Cakecakecheese · 26/05/2022 07:54

Look on ebay, especially for a maternity bundle. Most of these clothes won't have been worn much at all.

LondonladyTTC · 26/05/2022 08:24

I've been buying loose fitting non maternity dresses and got a few nice ones from Nobody's Child.
I have also got a couple of Seraphine maternity summer work dresses from eBay, which were an absolute bargain but are in perfect condition.

Amber17 · 26/05/2022 09:46

Not sure if you’re far enough along that sizing up won’t be sufficient, but Zara had some nice elasticated waist cotton trousers recently that might work?
Vinted has tons of Isabella Oliver and Seraphine barely used second hand.

Thank you! I’ve never used Asos, are they good for online returns etc?

I’ve bought one, but I’m not normally a dresses kind of person. No natural elegance 😂

H and M were my go-to but mostly they seem to have jeans and thick cotton t shirts - not much simple summer wear

Oohh, will have a look!

I’ve never ever worn maternity clothes.

oversized shirts with shorts / leggings / jeans / as a dress

oversized shirt with linen trousers

High waist elastic waist linen trousers pulled over bump with a tshirt / vest tucked in

maxi / midi dress

cotton pencil skirt pulled over bump with vest / tshirt

ShirleyPhallus · 26/05/2022 20:47

I haven’t bought any maternity wear this pregnancy but instead relying on stretchy and oversized dresses. Am using a few pairs of maternity leggings for casual wear but that’s it.

Jeans - absolutely no! Way too hot!

frenchie4002 · 26/05/2022 21:00

I'm living in dresses and cardigans at the moment. Got loads from Asda George in maternity range or Primark/Asos and just sized up :)

@Lastminuteaddition their returns are really easy, just click return on the app and drop off at the post office. Post office print the sticker and there is no returns form to fill in, all online.

Ooohh, that is great! I’d really rather go somewhere and try them on, so easy returns is a must! Thanks 😊

I have bought everything second hand and saved a fortune. People wear this stuff for a few months and get rid of it in good or great condition.

LaddieCthulu · 26/05/2022 21:36

Dresses and linen trousers for work with a few vest tops, shorts and maxi dresses for home. I have been advised to get a paddling pool for the garden and use it to keep cool in the height of summer! I am due at the beginning of September... I cannot imagine how uncomfortable I am going to be at the end of august!

Squiff70 · 26/05/2022 21:48

I've just bought several summery things from the Mama range at H&M. I'm really happy with all of it and they have a huge range of maternity wear on their website.

It really is utterly pathetic that virtually no high street retailers sell maternity clothes now.

It is! I went to a couple of massive shopping centres and still
found nothing😣

I am so glad that somebody asked! Why do all brands think that pregnant women want their entire bodies covered in beige? I’m trying to find cute, bright festival gear and am having no luck whatsoever.

sheyes180 · 29/05/2022 10:26

Ive sized up in a couple of bits from new look but defo recommend boohoo,asos-make sure you look under outlet as some stuff is really cheap,missguided-really comfy oversized loungewear and asda!
