My baby boy is due June 11th.

My partner wants to go aboard for a family holiday, it is also his birthday. Weare both really excited to do this!

My concern is, is the baby too young , he could be anywhere between 4-6 weeks ( depending if he comes early or late or next week 😂)

Will he need anything , Jabs etc?

We were going to get a passport fast tracked.

We are thinking Tenerife/Spain so not too far on plane.

Would you take your newborn this young? Are there any complications ?

Need some advice please 🙏

I think the biggest issue will be trying to get a passport in time. Honestly I wouldn't book anything without having passports in hand.

Secondly I would wait until after the first vaccinations at 8 weeks.

Otherwise - have a great time.

It will be getting a passport that will stop you from going. I've flown with all of mine from around 10 weeks old abc found it really easy. Much harder when they start crawling.

No, it’s not a good idea for the numerous reasons that people have mentioned above.

BTW, DH turned 30 four weeks after we had DC3. I organized a cake, a gift, a couple of bottles of wine, and had 4 friends come to celebrate in our garden for 2.5 hours after the DCs were in bed. I felt like a bloody hero. 😂

You are a bloody hero!! 🤩🤩

I didn't recover mentally or physically from my daughters birth until 6 weeks. Even then I felt like I only got part of myself back. She's almost 20 weeks now and we're tentatively booking a holiday 3 hours drive away but even that feels like it'll be a massive adventure! I really don't think it'll be a good idea, babies that age are just so difficult to predict.

@ShadowPuppets lucky you.

I had 3 weeks of it when I had DD so I wouldn’t have still been bleeding at that stage

Mine was 6 weeks of heavy bleeding

Oh I know anything up to 6 weeks is totally normal - I think I was just replying to a couple of PPs who had said ‘you will still be bleeding then’ - just saying it’s not a certainty. I had a PPH though so maybe I just lost all my blood in the delivery room 🙈

Its surely good to know there is a range of normal.

I had 24hrs of heavy bleeding, about 3 days of it being like a period, and then just very very light bleeding which stopped at 10 days PP both times.

It was no more incapacitating than an average period for me, certainly no reason to stay in or limit activities.

I appreciate its not like that for everyone, but its certainly not a given that the OP will still have lochia, or that she'll find it any more an issue than her regular period.

Not a good idea.

Moonshine160 · 20/05/2022 19:50

Saying that I do think a young baby would be easier and more relaxing than a one year old as they don’t have much routine and will sleep a lot of the time! But still not a good idea to book anything at this point because you don’t know how you’ll feel post partum and what your recovery will be like, and secondly getting a passport quickly is an absolute nightmare at the moment.
