Migraine with aura 9 weeks pregnant

I had 2 episode of this in my last pregnancy, both in the first trimester. Does qnyone know why it happens? I got in from work and felt my vision going funny, almost like a flash/blindspot? My speech felt a bit slurry and then a big headache within half an hour.

Went to bed early and woke up this morning feeling OK apart from a pain, in the side that I had the migraine, when I cough...

Nor sure what to do, has anyone had the same? I'm not booked in yet and terrified of it happening again! X

I get aura migraines anyway but during my last pregnancy I had them at least once a week until about 15 weeks I think. Currently early stages again and living in fear of them returning! It's all to do with hormones and unfortunately you're quite limited in terms of medication. Plenty water, paracetamol, cold flannel on back of neck, a migraine forehead patch and a dark room are my go to attempts to stop them x

I had one in the first trimester in each pregnancy.

There is a website called BUMPS about medications you can safely take in pregnancy. I get migraines too, and actually did take some of my prescribed triptan medication at one point in the first pregnancy, despite a lack of any data really, because I was so desperate. Otherwise, yes 'cool n soothe' strips, 4 head menthol rub are both good.
Taking paracetamol at the lowest dose you can manage seems pretty safe - there is one study relating it to behaviour problems in later childhood, but they didn't control for the reason the mothers needed to take it in the first place. so that study is pretty worthless.

Migraines are horrible, I've had them a couple of times a year for the last 24 years. Sounds like you're having a migraine hangover, I always feel really rubbish for a few days after a migraine. Try not to worry, as horrible and painful as migraines are, they don't leave lasting damage and hopefully you'll feel better tomorrow
