Gestational diabetes, chances of early labour??

Hi all, I'm a mum of 3 and due no 4 this summer, this is my first time being diagnosed for gestational diabetes so it's all new to me. I'm looking for some advice regarding how early other gd mums gave birth? My oh has been asked to be part of a wedding party (asked long before I got pregnant) 4 weeks before my due date, the wedding is at least a 2hr drive away (although he will be drinking and wont be able to drive home if needed), he will be away for a min of 2 nights possibly 3. From your own experiences what are the chances of me going into early labour or needing to be induced/ c section at 36 weeks? So far I'm diet controlled, have an appointment next week so will ask for their opinions also. All my other labours were spontaneous at 40wks, 39+2wks and 40+6wks, although the last baby came very quick, I was only in the hospital 40mins. Thanks for taking the time to read my post.

I was diet controlled. They weren't going to induce me until 40-40+6 as baby was not big. Not sure why they were going to induce at all really. Baby came spontaneously at 38+6 weighing 6lb 7oz.
My mother on the other hand had me induced a few weeks early because I was big (GD again). But I don't think it was dealt with the same 31 years ago. I was 9lb 2oz. Think it's mostly determined on baby's size when they will induce.

I only searched online briefly but yes, it does seem that premature labour is a risk with GD.

I'd be asking my OH not to drink at that wedding just in case he needs to drive home. And that he only stays the minimum number of nights. Also have others in mind to watch your other children and get you to the hospital if your OH wouldn't make it.

If you continue to be diet controlled they shouldn’t look to induce you until 40+6 (but check current NICE guidelines) unless there are any other problems. I made it past 40 weeks without induction and delivered naturally.

I was insulin controlled and just had my second baby at 36 weeks 3 days. Was very surprised when I went into labour

I know its early days for me yet as in I could be put on medication between now and EDD, and things can change at any stage as pregnancy is so unpredictable at the best of times. I really dont fancy having to labour on my own🙈

I was induced with both my boys - at about 38 weeks I think. But I was on insulin and both inductions were recommended because of deterioration in the placenta (caused by GD), not because the babies were big

Two babies both with GD. First was induced at 38 weeks but had bad pre eclampsia which was why(diabetes diet controlled) and the second was spontaneously at 40 weeks with a view to induce if that didn’t happen! Again diet controlled but poorly controlled if that makes sense, I followed exactly what the dietician asked to a tee but it didn’t work at the end, all was well though bar other issues completely unrelated!!!

Diet controlled GD with second. Had them at 40+6 after a sweep.

I am on Metformin, managed 2weekd diet controlled from 28wks diagnosis, then went up one dose every 2-3 weeks and now on max of 2g per day at 40wks. Currently in induction, going very slowly, they wanted to start at 40wks so he would be born by their deadline of 40+6. He is very average size on the scans, of he was bigger they would've induced earlier.
I think the risk of early birth is usually on insulin dependent GD as the placenta can start failing earlier signalled by getting hypos.
I hope any of that helps!
