Piles

Any magical cures? I’m only 27 weeks and have suddenly been hit by piles the size of 2 grapes. Bloody excruciating. Can’t sit down or walk easily.

HELP!

Piles are awful - it was one of the post birth things that made me most miserable.

Get a sitz bath and some Epsom salts (not the one with pepper in!!!) and soak your arse in there after every poo. Never ever let yourself get constipated - prunes, figs, all bran etc every day. Don't wipe after poos, you need to wash.

You can get some cream from the doctor for you to use when you push it back in regularly (be brave!).

Thanks @whywhywhy5 . Oh this is so grim!!

I tried pushing back in but think it’s too far past that (even though they literally appeared over night).

I’m hoping they will go after the baby is born, is that unlikely?!

You have all my sympathy @Rrrunrunrunrunrun pile are awful!

If it's any consolation, I literally felt each pile pop out as I was pushing DS out, felt like I was sitting on a melon for weeks but they suddenly disappeared a few weeks after birth without any intervention except anusol. Hopefully yours have the same fate!

whywhywhy5 · 16/05/2022 22:32

It really is grim, isn't it?

Sorry to say that mine got worse after birth (and I had an elective caesarean). I think it was internal while I was pregnant but it came right out afterwards. But then better after about 3 weeks. It's still there, but not noticeable 95% of the time, but if I get poorly, don't eat well or something it's like "Hello!". But it's never been anything like it was in pregnancy/after birth

whywhywhy5 · 16/05/2022 22:39

@Hallibob - yours disappeared! I'm very jealous!

@Rrrunrunrunrunrun
Macrogol/Movicol every day to soften your poo.
Lots of fruit and veg
Loads of water!
Squatty potty or footstool

Agree with PP - order a peri bottle or bidet bottle or whatever they're called off Amazon, like an upside down bottle to clean the area with afterwards instead of wiping.

Bloody annoying they are!

Rrrunrunrunrunrun · 17/05/2022 09:04

Thanks everyone. Feeling sorry for myself but less alone today!!

@Regenbogen22 can you buy movicol without having to ask for it? Or is it kept behind the counter?

Currently waddling in pain to the train station. Think this might be the end of my commuting days…although I need to come up with a better excuse than telling my boss I feel like I’m being stabbed with nails in the bum.

@Rrrunrunrunrunrun oooooh I'm not sure. I'm in Germany and just buy an own brand version directly off the shelf. Boots obviously sell it but I think it's OTC. Ah, yes, there might lie a problem....whether they sell it to you (am assuming at 27 weeks you look preggers!).
Get your hubbie/partner to get some for you if they refuse.....or send a nice non-pregnant colleague in for some?

Or maybe other posters in the UK can advise better!
