Positive tests. Pregnant or ovarian cysts?

My last period was April 8th and according to the digital test I took today I'm 3+. What's worrying me is that I have PCOS and have been in pain lately with what feels like cysts, so all I keep thinking is that I'm not pregnant and these positive tests are being caused by cysts. My periods are usually every 4/5 weeks, I was only 2 days late when I took these tests so I'm surprised they've come back so dark..has anyone been through something similar? Thanks.x

I would say those are very positive and therefore very likely you're pregnant. If you're getting pain you should contact your Gp or early pregnancy unit to check it's not an ectopic pregnancy

There darkness may suggest high levels of hCG, which is unusual in early pregnancy. You are probably pregnant but I would recommend getting a GP appointment tomorrow.

My last period was 7th April. I also have pcos but so happened to ovulate this cycle on day 12 and am now 5w4 with lines just like yours so I'd say they look good for where you should be! I am also getting some pains which feel a little bit like cyst pain and gp has advised this is ok. I'm booked in for a scan in a couple of weeks but likely it is a cysts causing the pain which are apparently generally harmless in pregnancy xxx congratulations!!!

Congratulations on your pregnancy. When I was pregnant with my son a few years back I was actually in hospital with a ruptured cyst when I found out, but even when my period was 3 weeks late i only got faint lines, these are really dark and im so worried. Its just always there in the back of my mind that I'm not actually pregnant and it's just cysts 😫xx

That result is a very positive pregnancy test.

However it isn't necessarily an either/or situation. I have a friend who has 2 children and each time she found out she was pregnant when having an ultrasound to detect a ruptured cyst.

So I would recommend seeking medical advice if you are experiencing pain.

I think your definiitely pregnant! You probably ovulate earlier than you think. Maybe ask for early scan? Best of luck and congratulations!

Thank you, I have a GP appointment tomorrow and I'm going to see if the early pregnancy unit can get me in for an early scan to put my mind at rest x

With pain and high HCG the other concern is ectopic. So definitely ask to see the EPAU in your area. I hope all is fine

With pain and low/slow-rising HCG.

With PCOS or other irregular cycles, the irregular bit is the length of time from period to ovulation. It's always 12-16 days from ovulation to the next period.

The most likely thing going on here is that you ovulated 3 weeks ago, which might be on the earlier side for you but sounds perfectly viable. And with your last pregnancy, I'm guessing you ovulated later, so it had only been 2 weeks by the time you tested.

If your periods aren't regular, then measuring from when you "expected" your next period isn't very accurate. I would phone the GP to book in, and ask if the midwife could give you a call back to put your mind at rest.

Thanks for correction @Regenbogen22 and sorry to you and others for getting it wrong!
