Will I feel better at 10 weeks?

Hello,

Was wondering what all mummies and mummies to be was with early pregnancy symptoms, specifically nausea and tiredness at 10 weeks?

I'm 9 weeks + 2 now and my exhaustion is spectacular and nausea not pleasant at all. Much worse in the evening. Not been voluntarily sick but have made myself throw up. Feels like a really bad hangover.

So I was hoping that things will get better by the beginning of 10 weeks or even the later half of 9 weeks...am I wishing for too much?

What has everyone's experience been?

I have Googled this and there's so much different info out there!

Thank you!

I was rough until about 20 weeks with both of mine, sorry to be the bearer of bad news!

But I was by far the worst of anyone I know, so hopefully you’ll start to feel better soon.

FabulousKilljoys · 15/05/2022 20:24

Everyone is different, there's no saying you'll feel any better at a certain stage tbh. I was sick most days at any time of day with all of mine for pretty much the whole 9 months. Sorry, I know that's not what you wanted to hear it's just there's no guarantees you'll start to feel better soon.

I get better at 14 weeks and after that felt great for the duration.
I can’t promise that for you sadly!

TeethingBabyHelp · 15/05/2022 20:27

I've never heard of 10 weeks being a "milestone" moment for feeling better. I was praying for 12 weeks as it was end of first trimester but my GP kept telling me not to get hopes up (I was on anti nausea medication as couldn't eat or drink a thing without them).

Turns out 24 weeks was my turning point. Just like a switch flipped and by that point I'd given up and just prepared myself for a whole pregnancy of hell

I'm 11 weeks and did start to feel better last week. Have the odd day like today where I'm feeling sicky and fancy no food but I'd say 80% of the time feel lots better 😊

runnerbeany · 15/05/2022 20:29

Ten weeks was the point it started to improve for me.
Really. Really. Slowly.

Totally better by 13/14 weeks.

Firecat84 · 15/05/2022 20:29

You'll probably feel better around 12 weeks. It's rough but once you make it through that first trimester you won't believe how bad you felt before!

Grapes89 · 15/05/2022 21:07

Everybody’s different but I was very sick until after 20 weeks. Medication didn’t work for me but go to your GP if you’re struggling as they may be able to give you something to help.

showmethegin · 15/05/2022 21:42

Hate to say it but weeks 10-11 were the absolute worst for me, started to feel better once those were out the way. Felt completely better the day I turned 16 weeks (but think that was because that was the point I came off the supplementary progesterone)

KangarooKenny · 15/05/2022 21:43

You should feel better around 12 weeks when the placenta takes over.

FabulousKilljoys · 15/05/2022 21:45

You should feel better around 12 weeks when the placenta takes over.

Someone should've told this to my placentas 😂

Unfortunately it's not a one size fits all when it comes to pregnancy.

summerdayss · 15/05/2022 21:50

I felt better from 12 weeks, hope it's the same for you!

VeronicaFranklin · 15/05/2022 22:11

I felt awful between 7-9 weeks, extreme fatigue, nausea, waking up in the early hours with hunger pangs. Soon as I hit 10 weeks (when the placenta takes over) my sickness totally disappeared.

Once I hit 2nd trimester I got my energy back.

Everyone's experience is different but for me, things improved week 10 onwards.

ChampionOfTheSun · 15/05/2022 22:14

I didn't feel better until 16 weeks and then felt rough again from about 28 weeks. A few of my friends felt better around 12ish weeks too.

PinkPlantCase · 15/05/2022 22:17

Sorry OP I think I started to pick up around 14 weeks and by 16 weeks I felt much more myself again

pocketbunny · 16/05/2022 00:21

@whitepepper86 I am 7 +1 and was just coming to ask a similar question. I'm struggling sooo much :'( I never imagined it would be this rough. I feel sick constantly and have exhaustion I've never before experienced. Cannot get through a day without napping and everything is a struggle. I also had covid a few weeks ago so that could be contributing too, but wow. If I'd known this prior I'd have been way too scared to try and conceive!

SaveWaterDrinkGin · 16/05/2022 00:29

It’s different for everyone. In all likelihood a few weeks down the line you’ll feel much better. This stage is really hard though and feels like it goes on forever. It won’t. Just hang on in there. Have you found anything that makes you feel better? For example for me I found never letting my stomach get empty helped and chewing fruity sweets to stop the sicky taste / feeling.

pinkrainbowsocks · 16/05/2022 00:38

I felt sick the entire way through with my second. I was in hospital at 20 weeks as I hadn't managed to eat for days. It was awful.
I got through it though and have a beautiful 7 month old. You'll likely feel better by 12-16 weeks. Sea bands, crackers, try to avoid stress, tiredness or dehydration. If it came to it you can get anti sickness from the doctor. I took them from 8 weeks until the day I gave birth. I weighed less the morning after I'd given birth than I did before I got pregnant. I felt lovely and slim! I've gained it all and more on top now though!

whitepepper86 · 16/05/2022 18:31

Thank you so much everyone for all the replies and the reassurance! And suggestions to improve the symptoms :) here's hoping placenta will take over soon! Glad to hear most of you are feeling a lot better now.

@SaveWaterDrinkGin agreed. Making sure I eat enough before hunger strikes definitely helps but sometimes you just forget because you feel fine or if you nap for too long :D

@pocketbunny I'm so sorry to hear you are struggling too. Hope you will feel better real soon.

I felt better by 12 weeks with my first so got a shock when it lasted till 14/15 with my second. I think everyone is different but as others have said I have never heard of 10 weeks being a milestone. I think I have heard that it can peak at 9 weeks so it might possibly start to improve.
You have my sympathy I remember how awful I felt and at the time it felt never ending.

DockOTheBay · 16/05/2022 19:02

More like 12-14 weeks in my experience.

BrightOrion · 16/05/2022 19:06

I read so much about the placenta taking over but honestly I am now 29 weeks and only just feeling better 😅 and even then I still have bad days, like the heartburn/ acid reflux today!

But everyone is different so I hope it gets better for you! 🌻
