Mould on sealant around window in the room where baby will be sleeping

This has been there for years due to condensation and not letting the air circulate the room. I’ve only started taking notice of it ever since I’ve been pregnant. I have cleaned it several times but when I clean it, it gets disturbed and it irritates my lungs and makes me cough. It isn’t causing any harm to me leaving it, I sleep in that room also. I open the windows every day since taking notice of it .

shall I just leave it or should I continue to clean it every now and then to keep the amount of it to a minimal? It’s not a worrying amount as such, it’s just in the sealant around the window and there’s some on the blind as well, but that’ll be thrown out soon.

i want to do what’s best for the baby.

Ours is terrible too so I'm watching this ! The condensation is awful and I've not been as on the ball with it as I probably should have. Will be now though !

I would get the sealant replaced because you’ll never be able to clean it all off as it gets inside it. Then I’d make sure the window was open for at least 20 mins every morning and if necessary dry the windows if they’re still wet. The best way to get it to dry is with a through draft so opening 2 windows in the same room if there are 2,
or opening windows in all bedrooms with the doors open so the air can blow through.
You can also get mini dehumidifiers to sit on the windowsill that don’t need electric or you could get a proper plug in one. It’s not good for you to breath it in but even worse for a baby.

HG mould spray would likely get rid of it, it’s miracle stuff. Smells like bleach, you spray on and leave it for an hour or so, you’d need to leave the window open or ideally get someone else to do it if you’re pregnant.

Hello thanks for this response

who could I get in touch with to come in and replace the sealant? I don’t trust anybody in my household to do a proper job of it.
I’m okay personally but the thought of the baby’s sensitive lungs being exposed to that is very worrying for me, they’re so prone to respiratory infections too.

Haha yeah that would be a good idea for somebody else to apply HG for me, I’ve used some cleaning products this pregnancy and I’m asthmatic too so it caused some problems for my lungs 😔

sadly though, there’s no one in my house who could do this for me.

I honestly feel useless because I don’t know how to get rid of the stuff. I’ve put bleach on it before and it removed most of it but it came back even stronger than before so that was a big mistake.

im also worried about disturbing it because I’ve noticed it hasn’t caused any problems when leaving it but once I touch it, it makes my airways flare up
if you find out a solution then please let me know! Good luck with the horrible stuff, it’s a nightmare x

I can heartily recommend HG products. The black mould stuff is fantastic but my goodness it's brutal!
Wear marigolds and your oldest clothes.
Then air the room.
Overall air circulation and warm dry air is important to prevent mould.

Thanks for this response

I’m just worried, since it’s in the bedroom, wouldn’t the spores from the mould go on the bed sheets if I attempt cleaning/scrubbing it? Or would spraying the mould make sure the spores aren’t airborne?
