Hi all!

So I am 15w3d with my first baby and I've not felt ANY flutters/bubbles/movement or anything at all yet :( I know it might still be too early but I can't help worrying. I've had a few scans already due to my last MMC and baby was very active each time.. Trying not to overdo it on ultrasounds but I just want to know she is ok :( is it normal to not have felt any movement? I have a small bump but it's very small. Not even 100% if it is a bump and not just bloating!

Thank you

All normal - I know the worry it caused though! Do you know if your placenta is anterior or posterior? Mine was anterior and I didn't feel movements til later on and DP didn't feel her til about 23 weeks.

It would be^^ uncommon to feel movement in a first baby that early, not the other way around!

With my first I didn't get any flutters or bubbles or the things most people feel first. I was 20 weeks and sat watching Netflix and saw my tummy just bulge out. So my first movement was a massive visible one!

16 weeks with my second and no movements yet, it'll happen when it happens.

Congratulations on your pregnancy!

@Runkle @addler thank you both! 🤗 I had a private scan done today (just under 16 weeks) and she was moving around a lot. Kicking the sh*t out of my bladder 🤣 they said I have an anterior placenta so from what I’ve read, that could be why I’ve not felt anything 😀

You’ve not felt anything because you’re not even 16 weeks, not because of your anterior placenta! Many, many people have told you that it’s too early to feel movement. Even with a posterior placenta many people don’t feel anything until we’ll after 20 weeks.

Goldencarp · 15/05/2022 12:52

I was gone 20 weeks with my first. Earlier with the others. Also depends on your fitness. My friend who has abs to die for didn’t feel anything for about 25/26 weeks.

wishuponastar1988 · 15/05/2022 12:52

I have an anterior placenta and started feeling movements at 22 weeks but I had to be laying down to feel them. I'm 28 weeks now and feeling movements which are stronger but I still sometimes don't feel much when she is right behind my placenta.

itssquidstella · 15/05/2022 13:12

I felt the first tiny, almost indiscernible movements at about 17 and a half weeks, and I thought that was early!

MightBeLabour · 15/05/2022 13:26

I was about 18 weeks I think to feel her when touching bump but didn't feel a kick without my touch until 22 weeks.
Us FTM just want it... Now, dont we? XX

addler · 15/05/2022 13:33

It's really not OP, I had a posterior placenta and didn't feel anything until 20 weeks and that was normal.

My friends with anterior placentas often didn't feel anything until 24 weeks, and that is normal.

You're going to drive yourself absolutely crazy at this rate- it's very likely you won't feel anything for weeks and weeks. Please try and relax and take it a day at a time. Your lovely baby girl is happy and healthy, and she'll make herself known to your bladder soon enough.

Heartofglass12345 · 15/05/2022 22:36

I was around 21/21 weeks before I felt my first moving, and 15 weeks with my 2nd which was very weird and I didn't realise what it was at first lol (feels more like flutters earlier on) at least all was ok at the scan Smile

Heartofglass12345 · 15/05/2022 22:37

Haha I meant to say 21/22 weeks

leah3 · 17/05/2022 20:21

@Moancup actually, I was told by my midwife AND the sonographer that it’s more likely that my placenta is cushioning the movement… Yes I fully understand I am still early and know this will also factor into it as well but you can’t really say for sure.

@MightBeLabour yes I really do 😭 just want reassurance as I’m the biggest over thinker on the planet

thank you for all the responses 🤍

@addler thank you, you’re right. I think it’s hard for me because my sister is 4 weeks ahead of me (FTM also) and she felt movements by this stage so I can’t help comparing 😔 but I understand every pregnancy is different. I just want to be able to relax and enjoy it x

Comparison is the thief of joy OP, we all do it but it's so toxic for us. If you can get a handle on it you'll save yourself a world of hurt watching your children grow up (but how lovely to have cousins so close in age, and a sister going through the same stages as you will hopefully mean you can lean on each other for support)

I still have to give myself a shake when I catch myself starting to compare my child to my friends'. It only ever leads to hurt.

At the end of the day your baby will do some things before her cousin did and she will do some things later, but they'll both be absolutely perfect.

By the way I thought I felt some first movements today and got quite excited, and then stood up to tell DP and proceeded to do an enormous fart instead. Pregnancy is ever the glamorous experience!

leah3 · 17/05/2022 20:40

@addler omg I love that hahahaha 🤣🤣🤣🤣!!!

Thank you soo much, you’ve really helped me to calm down and look at things differently, I just need to try and relax and enjoy the pregnancy, need to stop with the overthinking!! 😭🤍
