Hi we're due to fly abroad next week to Spain and I have an alarm set for every evening at 6pm to do my injection. Do I need to adjust the time ? I know it's only an hour ahead but I have bad anxiety this pregnancy and worrying about it
Thanks

I would just carry on doing it at 6pm Spanish time while you're there. I doubt one hour will make a difference! At least then you know 6pm = injection time, no confusion.

From memory I think you have to do them within an hour of the same time each day. So think you would be fine if you moved it in line with the time change

willitmatter · 10/05/2022 06:35

Do you think if I did it at 5.30pm instead it would be okay? As this is in the middle of the time difference then. I know it might seem like a no brainer to some people but my anxious brain will overthink this

OP, don't do it at 5:30 in Spain because that is then 4:30 UK time.

Think also about what will be possible in Spain - won't you be going for dinner around 7pm Spain time? Therefore maybe easier to stick to your normal 6pm, despite being an hour earlier. Your phone automatically changes time anyway, you won't have to think about anything else.

By all means do it at 6:30 Spain time but I think you're just making it complicated.😜

(On another note, do make sure you have all the documents needed to travel with needles and injectable medication! Prescriptions, docs letter, safe storage etc etc)

willitmatter · 10/05/2022 07:26

God I'm getting confused already 😆
So if I stick to 6 it'll just be doing it an hour earlier then won't it ? I'd rather do it early than late. That's my worry doing it late

Yeah currently trying to get a letter off the hospital to take with me, I've called them 4 times now and they still haven't done it

I would leave it at 6pm. 6 while you're still in the UK, and 6 when you're in Spain. It will be an hour earlier for your body but much simpler.

You'll also need sharps disposal boxes I would think.

Just sticking with 6pm will be fine.
Are the injections recorded anywhere in your maternity notes? You should take those with you anyway.
You should have a prescription record for the injections too, so don't worry if you don't get a separate letter. The NHS appears to have outsourced letter production/stopped sending paper letters in many cases now, so it isn't easy to get anything extra. I have to read my letters online and print them out myself if i want a paper copy!
Have a lovely holiday.

Yes, you must take a sharps box.

willitmatter · 10/05/2022 17:15

Hospital have been in touch and they're sending the letter out to me.
I've got notes and an app, do you think an app will be okay? Don't really want to take the notes as they're too bulky to fit in my rucksack !
I did check with the hospital when they rang and they said the same just stick to 6pm as it won't make a difference. Just can't help but worry about every little thing !
I have a small sharps bin one of those narrow ones.

I am sure app will be fine. You just need a summary of information. I am sure you will be fine. They will have plenty of experience of women on clexane. Whenever I travel I google the rules on medication. I have never been asked for anything but I always have my standard latest clinic letter and my prescription from the pharmacy.
