Jumping in first trimester

Let me just preface this with the fact that my first pregnancy ended in complications for my first child which will effect him all his life, so I'm starting from a place of high anxiety.

I'm only just pregnant so about four weeks. Went to a park with little one and was modelling playing to my child. Stupidly jumped off something about the height of a park bench if you count the back. I'm now freaking out about damage to the baby and my anxiety is skyrocketing.
Please can anyone give me advice. Am I worrying for no reason or not?

Jumping isn't going to hurt your baby.

Worrying for no reason. The embryo is attached and well protected.

Thank you. I think I'm going to really struggle with this pregnancy, as I was anxious enough in my other pregnancy but had no reason to assume it would go wrong. Now I have experienced those fears can turn into reality it's hard to know what is a legitimate concern and what's an unnecessary worry.

I thought this thread was going to be about feeling the baby jumping as early as the first trimester - I was intrigued haha.

Pretty sure jumping can't harm your baby. They're very well-cushioned.

Erm Iv been flip out trampolining last week and I'm 20 weeks pregnant.. still living my life.

piglet81 · 06/05/2022 12:24

😮You should definitely not be trampolining @20viona !

HolyMoly22 · 06/05/2022 12:26

Baby is well protected op

I think it's more that you shouldn't do vigorous exercise that has a risk of falling - hence why trampolining probably isn't recommended. The jumping motion itself isn't harmful, just the risk of falling.

@piglet81 I was with my 2 year old so hardly doing backflips but just nice to have a little bounce.

You need to contact the midwifery team and ask for a referral to maternal mental service. I used after the birth of my first and during my second pregnancy and I found they so helpful and not judgemental.

It's fine. I did 30 day shred throughout my pregnancy which contains star jumps, butt kicks, jump rope. Exercise is recommended. The only thing I cut out of my routine (on recommendation of my kettlebell instructor) was kettlebell swings.

I'm struggling too really bad, can't stop worrying about everything from what I eat to things like painting my nails ! I'm going to be referred to the perinatal mental health and think it's for the best. We shouldn't be worrying like this and enjoying it instead
