Flutters then nothing for a while

So last Thursday I felt twice very distinct flutters, then on Saturday night abit of activity and since then basically nothing. I felt a tiny tap Tuesday but again nothing since. It's making me paranoid. Is this normal? I've given my bump a jig around to try and encourage something but got nothing.
I was also at a kids disco earlier and thought that might mean she would make some movements because of the loud noise but didn't feel anything.
I'm 17+3.
Can't help but worry but trying not too as I heard her heartbeat at the hospital Tuesday, just still anxious

It's worrying but when you're "trying " to feel something your muscles tense a bit and you're less likely to get the sensation. It could also be that he/she has changed position and just isn't reaching the right place for you to feel it

jacksmannequin · 05/05/2022 21:48

@tkwal Yeah could be. One thing I always think about the changed positions thing is do they stay in a certain position for days then ?
Sometimes I think I feel something but then can't be sure if it's just normal digestive feelings ! But the flutters were definite no mistaking it

It's normal to not feel it every dat or in any kind of rythm up to about 26 weeks IIRC.

fossilsmorefossils · 05/05/2022 22:25

Dat=day

BertieBotts · 05/05/2022 22:30

This is normal when you first start to feel movement, as they have so much space to move around that you'll only feel it occasionally when they're in exactly the right position. When they have moved then they're too far away from the sides and you won't notice their movement. They might not drift into the right spot again for days at a time. Don't worry, before too long they will be bigger and you'll feel the movement most of the time.

jacksmannequin · 05/05/2022 22:31

@fossilsmorefossils yeah I did read that. I guess I just thought once I'd felt those flutters they'd get more and more noticeable

Thank you. I was struggling to understand why they'd be in one spot for days on end ! I know they're still tiny at this stage aswell. Just can't help but worry

It's how long is a piece of string. At 17 weeks they are still small enough to be constantly changing position and you will usually feel the stretching motions most. When they are bigger, say 26+ weeks you will be able to know if you're feeling a hand or a foot, a stretch or a kick. It really is the most wonderful feeling ( until they are bouncing on your bladder or using your ribs as a xylophone)

jacksmannequin · 05/05/2022 22:37

@tkwal what are the stretching motions ? I felt the flutters that couple of times and I've felt very light taps but other things I think I might have felt could just be my digestive system ! It's hard to tell sometimes

They will get more and more noticeable but it happens over weeks, not hours :)

MesMidgeMaisel · 06/05/2022 00:21

I had the exact same thing at 17-18 weeks. I actually went in for reduced movement and was told by the midwives that at this gestation it's common for movement to appear to come and go; as per previous posts baby is so small that a different position means you can't always feel them. I've got my 7 week old next to me currently
However if you are worried can you ring your MAC and see what they say? I was always told to ring them whatever, and if it will stop you stressing or worrying?

jacksmannequin · 06/05/2022 06:25

I was actually at the mac on Tuesday because of ongoing spotting (they found a cervical etroption) and also listened in to the baby while there. And I did even ask about the movements etc and they said the same that they wouldn't expect a pattern until after 24 weeks and it's normal what I'm experiencing. But I'm still worrying ! I know it's on my mind as I was having not very nice dreams last night too.
I need to try and relax I know, just want her to say hello !
