Early pregnancy scan - brown discharge and cramping

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice. I’m just over 5 weeks pregnant and have had a couple of incidents of brown discharge over the last few days. I rang the early pregnancy unit and based on that and some cramping pains on my right hand side they want to see me later this week to check the location of the pregnancy. I assume they are worried about an ectopic pregnancy?

I was just wondering if anyone could offer any advice about the scan and what we may or may not be able to see at 5 weeks 5 days. Also any positive stories of healthy pregnancies following these symptoms would be greatly appreciated! Feeling very anxious right now, I really wanted them just to say it’s all totally normal don’t worry everything is fine.

Thank you.

@3monkeybars and @Pregnantandvworried I hope that you’re both doing ok today.

@3monkeybars I completely agree about a nice calming glass of wine! It would be very welcome right now! I hope the bath helped last night though.

I’m feeling incredibly nervous about tomorrow but trying really hard to stay positive until I know one way or the other.

I had this with both of my pregnancies at 5 weeks. I went to EPU the first time and the sonographer said its further implantation, the egg is burrowing deeper in and causes the spotting. Hope that helps and everything goes well for you.

@BettyOBarley thank you for the reassurance. It does help, thank you.

How has it gone today @Worrier22 ? I've been thinking of you

Hello ladies I’m just back from my scan and everything looks good! Little bean is measuring exactly on my dates and we even managed to see a tiny flickering heart beat. They couldn’t find any reason for my discharge but said that the cramps were likely due to my round ligaments starting to stretch and that it can feel very strange, particularly in a first pregnancy.

Thank you so much to all of you on this thread. It has really helped me through the last few days. You have all been so kind and supportive so thank you again.

@3monkeybars and @Pregnantandvworried I really hope everything is ok for you both as well. More than happy to keep chatting if you’d like. It’s such an anxious time and I found it really helpful to know that other people felt the same. Xx

@Worrier22 I am glad to hear everything is OK . 🤗😊

My spotting has stopped now. Still suffering witj pain in groin but I guess that's due to everything stretching.

3monkeybars · 06/05/2022 22:54

@Worrier22 so happy everything is looking good!! It must have been so amazing to see a little healthy bean on the screen.. yay!
I have had a little bit of spotting continuing this evening but having been reassured by so many experiences on MN I'm not worried any more (no pain either). Just absolutely exhausted at the moment which is taking my mind off it too. I'd already booked a private scan for next Friday so I will look forward to hopefully good news then .

Have had unprotected sex twice first time two weeks ago second time was this weekend I am now experiencing discharge with a little blood in it that had started this morning and it's not enough to soak a pad and it's very light pink in color and I was wondering if I might be pregnant

Heaven622 · 04/11/2024 06:51

Hi guys, I've missed my period and some people think I look pregnant. I took a test and it was positive, but subsequent tests were negative. My doctor is doing bloodwork on Monday. I've had brown milky discharge with no period. Has anyone had similar experiences? Is this a sign of pregnancy? I'm anxious as this would be my fifth child, and I've had a miscarriage.
