Link here

It reckons that for me, at 5'9, anything over 10 and a half stone is overweight.

When I was 10 and a half stone I was positively sylph-like - in fact I thought a healthy weight range is up to 12 stone for my height?

I don't think it's great to be telling pregnant women they are "overweight" when they aren't - don't we have enough to worry about?!

rats i wanted one of these and cannot get on the web page...

princessosyth · 10/01/2008 17:03

Strange because I am only 5.2 and yet it says that 11 and a half stone is okay for my height.

princessosyth · 10/01/2008 17:05

It obviously doesn't work properly as I just changed my height to 5.8 and it gave me a maximum weight of 10 stone so something is not right..

paulayatesbiggestfan · 10/01/2008 17:08

are you all the same number of weeks?
for me 14 weeks says almost exact for my height
says i should end up just over 12 stone at term which is spot on

bohemianbint · 10/01/2008 18:49

Sorry, my maths is a bit squewiff, but even so, it says anything over 11 stone for my height in a non-pregnant state, is overweight. I still disagree. Evil!

seems right for me - at term I should be 10 stone (min) which is 2 stone heavier than start weight. I thought this was the general guide.

I am 15 weeks now, and according to chart my weight gain so far is fine.

I would agree it is not a good thing to get obsessed about, and could make alot of mums feel bad if you don't fit in the range - but all weight charts do that, pregnant or not!

BetsyBoop · 10/01/2008 20:38

It's very harsh!

I'm 5 11 & (after a messy divorce) went down to 10st5lb - size 10 was spinning on my waist & all my friends were telling me I was unhealthly thin.

A BMI of 25 (top of "normal" for my height) is about 12.5st (80kg)

whomovedmychocolate · 10/01/2008 20:49

Have some chocolate - you'll feel better

Seriously, it's all bollocks. I was as big as a house during my first pregnancy and lost it all again, and I'll do it again too after this one.

mumofk · 10/01/2008 20:51

Don't get it- I was overweight before, BMI 28, and I've put on almost 2 kgs so far- I'm not putting enough weight on to maintain my overweight status according to that! I thought coz I started off heavier I'd probably gain a little less, but that is saying I still should expect to gain loads?
Don't think it works for me, but I can cope! Hmmm wonder if any chocolate biscuits left from xmas......

spugs · 11/01/2008 10:05

load of poo apparently i should only put on 20lbs in whole pg. im 5ft 9 and started at 9 stone, im now 30 weeks and ive put on 28 lbs so far actually managed to put on half a stone in the last 2 weeks mmm cake

Yankunian · 11/01/2008 14:51

I can't figure it out either - am 5'7 and started at (eek) 83 kilos, but at 23 weeks am only about 87 kilos - way low according to this but am eating v sensibly. I think it's all rubbish.

paulayatesbiggestfan · 11/01/2008 17:08

i dont understand that spugs

SallyInYorkshire · 11/01/2008 18:25

It's all wrong - it says I am underweight (I am only just pg) - my BMI is 21 which is perfectly healthy although I am definitely carrying a bit extra. It then predicts a prjected weight for me at the end which it says is underweight? I don't really get it!

bohemianbint · 14/01/2008 12:51

Exactly. Sure, the baby might only weigh 6-8lbs or wahtever itself, but what about that massive placenta, and pints of amniotic fluid, etc?
