Induction at 37 weeks

Has anyone had a planned induction at 37 weeks? Can I ask how it went? Particularly if you have had previous deliveries.

Currently 30 weeks but will be having an induction at 37 weeks. Previous 3 pregnancies had increasingly quick labours (6 hours, 27 mins then 3 mins 🙄) so I’m curious as to how this will go in comparison.

iI say I’ll be having an induction, that’s assuming this baby isn’t still breech/transverse by then and assuming I don’t have another premature delivery 🫣🫣 I guess we can only plan for the best case scenario and deal with what comes when it comes 🤣🤣🤣

Good luck. Following as I was told I might have to have this (not until late July for August due date.) Mine would be for lupus anticoagulant and low PAPP-A though.

Three minutes sounds so stressful. It has to be better than that.

I was induced but for a first baby and it was late. It was a pretty awful experience but I think that’s because my body had never done it before. I think if yours has been through labour then it will be much easier.

That said, the drip can bring on much harder contractions than natural labour so don’t be afraid to ask for pain relief inc an epidural. Hopefully you’ll be fine with just the pessary / waters breaking / whatever they’re doing and it will be quick like the others.

Three minutes sounds so stressful. It has to be better than that.

I was on a Labour ward, waters having ruptured 12 hours previously with a 35 week breech pregnancy. Junior registrar and midwives laughing at me and practically patting my head when I warned them I would progress quickly. 1 long contraction that lasted 3 minutes was all it took for me to go from 0-10cm dilated and even though I was standing with my daughters legs and body hanging out, the registrar still tried to say I couldn’t possibly be fully dilated. So yes… pretty stressful. Particularly as the registrar didn’t know how to deliver a breech, my daughter was stuck for 30 mins while a consultant drove to the hospital and then she was delivered with an Apgar of 0, took 12 mins of CPR to get a heartrate then spent 3 weeks on full life support. She now has brain damage. 3 mins was definitely stressful 🫣🫣🫣🫣🫣 You hit the nail on the head when you said it has to be better than that 😂😂 Fingers crossed!!! 😁

I’m due 5th July and will be induced around the 14th June. Date will be confirmed next week.

I was induced with my first at 37 weeks and it was fine, I wouldn't be nervous about being induced again. It was more painful than my natural labours and I didn't even have the drip, although again it was my first so that may be why.

I think you're looking for time comparisons though. So my first was 5 hours start to finish
DC2 was 40 mins start to finish
DC3 was 18 mins start to finish
With DC4 I was meant to be induced, but after they'd had a look at my history and examined my cervix, they gently encouraged me to have a c section. I can't remember all the terminology they'd used but essentially, from what I gathered, they believed it would be an extremely fast birth and didn't want to stun me or DC4 with a very quick arrival, and believed it may have ended in an emergency c section anyway. The reason for inducing me was due to baby's growth slowing down though, I don't know if they'd have recommended differently if it was for another reason. So I suppose my point is yeah, the midwives and consultants etc would expect an extremely quick birth with induction after prior fast births. They did with me anyway!

I had 37 week induction with baby number 3. I had a 6 hour pessary to soften the cervix and then they decided to do another 6 so they could break my waters but I over contracted from the minute she put it in I was going every minute like minute on minute off. So then they gave me an injection to stop labour which worked for about 10 minutes and then it all just started properly, nicely spaced out and it was by far my most chilled, enjoyable labour and she arrived maybe 6 hours later but I'm not 100% what time they tried to stop it as it was a bit chaotic at that time.
As its not your first I'd say it shouldn't be too bad. Let's hope it doesn't best 3 minutes though 😬 best of luck with the whole pregnancy!

That's terrifying op. Yes this will definitely be better than that.
