Talk about every stage of pregnancy, from early symptoms to preparing for birth.

I'm actually quite enjoying being pregnant and don't care who knows it

I was reading the "I hate being pregnant" thread yesterday and it made me feel a bit depressed and also like I was the odd one out. So anyway, I thought we could share some positive stories about being pregnant too. Here goes for me (I'm 29 weeks today)

A few random reasons off the top of my head as to why I love pregnancy (even when having a rubbish day like today):

  • I actually still have a waist - when I wear black and look front on, you can't see my bump and I actually look like I do not-pregnant (just a bit chunkier )
  • I can't quite believe that I am able to grow a baby and smile whenever I think about how clever my body is
  • People at work cut me a bit more slack - when I succumbed to norovirus just before Christmas, even my old boss who I have a difficult relationship with became very concerned and insisted on sorting out a taxi to send me home
  • I get to eat an extra chocolate or two guilt-free when I probably shouldn't
  • I can indulge my inherent laziness by slobbing on the sofa watching box sets of favourite programmes (particularly loving shaven-headed Michael in Prison Break at the moment...)
  • I don't have to do gardening or DIY "cos it's too much heavy lifting", and my lovely DH does it all without even batting an eyelid
  • I spend a lot of the evening (when lazing on sofa watching aforementioned DVD box sets) laughing at the shapes my baby is throwing in my tummy. 'Tis very often like a scene from a rave circa 1989

Anyone else, or is it really just me?

Good for you. I loved being pg too

mishymoo · 10/01/2008 10:49

I loved being pregnant too.

My DH used to rub my feet and back every night.

I loved the feeling of baby's movement especially after eating a bar of chocolate.

belgo · 10/01/2008 10:51

that's good to hear Holidaysqueen

ChippyMinton · 10/01/2008 10:51

I enjoyed it too, despite having 3 DC virtually back-to-back. I did an awful lot of sitting on the sofa, which is a hard habit to break

Mum2b2BabyRoo · 10/01/2008 10:54

Me too, me too!! Besides all the nasty lurgy's I have managed to pick up (oh and not forgetting the 10 weeks of morning sickenss hell), I am loving being pregnant! Like you I am continually amazed at how clever my body is and how clever baby is! I love every little movement I feel and feel over the moon at the thought of baby's arrival in April! I can't wait to meet him/her! And yeah - loving the fact that DH thinks I am pretty amazing too! So much so that he is quite happy to do the majority of things around the house and let me lay (like the Princess I am - ha ha) on the couch eating chocs and watching my favourite tv programmes!

Glammama · 10/01/2008 11:19

Another vote from me. I love feeling the squirms and kicks, even though some of them really hurt. I also like the way I'm practically obligated to put my feet up all the time, whilst gaining nourishment form whatever I feel like. I feel comfortable in my own (itchy) skin and I'm still amazed that I'm growing a baby! I've doen it before but it's still miraculous. That makes up for all the leaking, aching, etc. I love being pregnant!!

surprisedandexcitedmum · 10/01/2008 11:43

Well done HQ! The whole reason I started writing about being pregnant was to revel in it!

All little annoyances that go with being pregant will be forgotten once our little ravers arrive - I'm sure they will be no less facinating in the flesh!

My only regret is not keeping fitter and not exploiting the 'craving' factor for every whim and fancy; it's never to late to start though and I do have 8 weeks left...

Lcy · 10/01/2008 11:45

Vote from me too - even though I am only 9 weeks and still in first trimester yuckiness stage. After miscarrying my first baby I am so pleased to be pregnant and that the baby seems to be healthy that i am loving every minute of it. I can't wait to have a bump and feel those first kicks. Oh and I love DH waiting on me!

scaryhairycat · 10/01/2008 11:49

Me also! Have been incredibly lucky with both pgs, especially this one - haven't had any nasty ailments a lot of other poor ladies have had, I am 37+3 and even my stretch marks are the same ones I always had just v slightly darker. Have even been sleeping brilliantly, not too uncomfortable or waking too much. The only thing I've had is terrible toothache, (which I probably would have got anyway) and that's gone now.
Have felt I have had to make out I am more tired and uncomfortable than I actually am sometimes when friends and family talk to me - they don't believe me when I say I am great, actually!(fastforward 3 weeks though and I just might be saying something different!)

AussieSim · 10/01/2008 11:50

I love being pregnant too - this is my third - and it is lucky I didn't start younger or who knows how many I might have fitted in. And - I don't even moan about the pain of childbirth, or sore nipples when you start breastfeeding - it is all worth it - so whats the point?

Nooname · 10/01/2008 11:52

Ah sounds great, can't wait to be pg again!! I so remember looking in amazement at the feet and elbows sticking out of my tummy and feeling ds hiccuping (which he did ALL the time!!)

I too enjoyed being pg (after the first trim that is) and didn't even suffer even in late pregnancy!

We're the lucky ones I guess!

MumOfBillyTheKid · 10/01/2008 13:30

I am loving it too (30 +2)

I didn't have the tired first trimester (nor the energy rush in the 2nd) and beside the odd niggle here and there, have breezed through it (so far).

Just feel very lucky and privilaged (seeing as friend who told me to get on and try is now on IVF). I know it's something us ladies are born to do, but it's not always that easy to get to this state, so join us and feel happy about it

fitnforty · 10/01/2008 20:50

me too, i have the odd aches/pains but behind it all I'm creating a new life inside me and your body knows exactly what it should be doing all the way - that's just amazing!

prettymum · 10/01/2008 20:53

Anyway its great to hear about the joys of getting further along and things to hopefully look forward to! Early scan tomorrow so fingers crossed!xxx

daisynova · 10/01/2008 21:57

I hate you all! I wish I had a good pregnancy!

Kezza7779 · 11/01/2008 16:18

Ha daisy, mines not what i would describe as good, 24 hour nausea, extreme tiredness, backache (not sure if its related to pregnancy) lower abdominal pains.....
However i want it so much that this is out weighing all of it. I had my reassurance scan today and it was brilliant, size was bang on for dates, strong heartbeat.... x

I'm loving being pregnant too(32w with 1st). As well as all of the other reasons above, I love that feeling of not really caring about work or anything else, just baby stuff and the family that DH, new baby and I will be .

I'd read so many threads on mumsnet before falling pregnant that I thought it was going to be a horrendous time so I appreciate how lucky I am just to have bad indigestion and a bit of sleep deprivation (all made up for when baby wriggles again).

oops sorry
I don't even mind being as dopey as I am...

whomovedmychocolate · 11/01/2008 17:48

Yeah they do say pregnancy can make your brain fuzzy

NinjaR · 20/01/2008 15:58

I love being pregnant as well (31 w)! Keep having a v sore back plus all the usual aches and pains, however, it hasn't been THAT bad.... No morning sickness. I am definitely one of the lucky ones...

Feeling the baby move and kick is an amazing feeling and I never seem to tire of it. Also, being able to balance a drink on my belly is quite fun ;o)

I'm a little bit nervous about giving birth though, but then again - so many women do it every day...! I think it's the great unknown that worries me.

Looking forward to my maternity leave and seeing my little girl for the first time.
