Baby kicks feel lower down at 36 weeks

I'm currently 36 weeks and 4 days. I used to feel most of his kicks up in my upper abdomen but now most of them are in my lower abdomen. The midwife said he was head down position last week. Is it possible that he changed positions in the last couple of days? Is this something that should be reporting to the midwife? I'm a bit worried now as I have mild polyhydramnios and baby is measuring in the 95th percentile all around with suspected gestational diabetes (even though I tested negative previously). So if he's in the wrong position I may need a C-section :/ Also I've been feeling less back pain recently which makes me think he really did change positions

any concern then speak to your midwife or someone who can examine you and find out what is happening. Good luck

I would speak to midwife and tell them you think baby has turned and want a scan. If your carrying a big breech baby they will book you in for c section in about 2 weeks so I would get on to your midwife ASAP. Also of they won’t you I would book a private scan but I don’t fancy giving birth to a breech baby vaginally.

It's also likely that the midwife is wrong - palpation is not an exact science (I was repeatedly with certainty told mine was head down when he wasn't).

He might just have dropped quite a bit -- does the upper part of your tummy feel emptier than before? Is it easier to breathe? It is normal for them to drop a bit towards the end and from memory this is often more noticeable with the first one. If his head has dropped further down into your pelvis he might be lying at an angle and with his legs bent right over the front of his body which could lead to you feeling his feet pushing quite low down (if you see what I mean!). But I think with the concerns re: fluid and size you should request a scan anyway to see what's up. I'm in France and they scan everyone here at 37 weeks anyway to check position.

Hi All, sorry for the late response. I had a scan today with the consultant and he said baby was in cephalic position so should be all good. He probably has his feet down instead of up! Due to big baby size they are looking to induce me at 38+ weeks. It seems my fluid went down slightly to a normal range which is reassuring. Still got blood in urine which they will test but it's been there basically my entire pregnancy with no infections :/

It's still really hard for me to breathe laying down. I sometimes even struggle breathing sitting down. Blood pressure is normal but my heart rate at the appointment was 130... They are saying the breathing problem is because of 95 percentile baby. I just hope I can get through the next couple of weeks!

I have another scan Monday 9th to determine my induction day probably. If baby is still too big they will induce me earlier than 40 weeks.

Oh yea and my second gestational diabetes test came back normal! So he's just a big baby genetically lol
