Experiences of hyperthyroidism and pregnancy

I'm only 4+6 and I found out just before I discovered I'm pregnant that I'm hyperthyroid. My numbers are slightly above the top end of normal but they have increased the last few weeks.

What was your experience if you were in this situation? I'm batting with endocrinology to medicate me, as well as the GP, who are both saying it's antenatal. Antenatal categorically say they won't see me until 10 weeks so it's endo's issue. So stressful!

Hey, I’m 34 weeks pregnant with over active thyroid. I was already being medicated before I got pregnant, but I would say you need to ring and have a referral to endocrinology as levels can sometimes rise during pregnancy. They should be regularly monitoring you by checking your bloods (every 4-8 weeks depending on your levels). Don’t let it worry you, I’m sure you will be okay just make sure you ring and say your not happy that you are not being monitored/medicated. Ask them why.

I have quite a positive experience so far, I’ve been on the lowest dose and I have luckily sailed through pregnancy with no issues. I am being consultant lead which is nice to have that extra attention and extra growth scans to monitor baby.

@Seabreeze2 thanks for your message, it's somewhat reassuring. My levels aren't too high (we're only slightly over) but they have increased a bit since I got my bfp. I've got a private consultant appointment tomorrow. Any ideas of what I can expect? They're happy to go on my nhs diagnosis and blood results.
